I've used similar wi-fi plugs from other companies, with mixed results. It took a lot of guesswork to get the other plugs to work and they weren't very durable. I ordered these from Govee because I had used their leak detection product for several years and it had worked flawlessly. The wi-fi plugs from Govee were even better than their leak detection system! It took just took 15 to 20 seconds to pair up each plug with the iPhone app and connect it to my home wi-fi network. They feel more durable, but I'll need to test them through a couple of Texas thunderstorms before I can rate that for them. Just purchased these to control holiday lights from my smart phone. These work well. I have other Govee products, including water leak detectors and temperature sensors, and it was quick to set up and add these to the app. Programming with the timer function was also very intuitive. The only negative to me, is that these circular plugs are a little large, and in a standard two-receptacle outlet, they are likely to intrude upon the space needed for another device to plug into the other receptacle. I tried and was unable to plug these in next to a lamp plug, and also next to a nightlight. So their use is a bit limited to me, to only those receptacles that I am not already using. I will try their next generation rectangular version to see if that will allow me to use the other receptacle in the outlet. ... show more

This company stands by its products. I bought a single-plug four-pack twice. Two of the single plugs were failing to keep their connection. The connections would drop about every other day. It was becoming irritating re-connecting through the Govee app. I reached out to Govee; they suggested I try a few things; I did that with no success with the connection problem. Don't get me wrong, the rest of the units stay connected with no problem at all. They work flawlessly with Alexa. Anyway, the company sent me two to replace the two that were failing. The price point for 4 smart plugs was fantastic. I read reviews that set-up could be challenging but I’m a 70 year old woman and read the reviews, the most important take away was make sure when setting up is twofold, make sure Bluetooth is on and wireless is set to 2.4; it does not work on 5g. I used my iPhone and after setup it was added automatically to Alexia. I then set up a group “Christmas”, set up a timer schedule and everything turns on automatically at 5:00pm and off 11:00. Works perfectly, no running around to turn everything on or tell Alexia every time what you want for each plug. Buy these! ... show more

We bought 2 of these for our our aquatic turtle's heat lamp and UV lamp. They have been keeping her lights on schedule perfectly for the last 2 weeks. I should have ditched that old light timer version a long time ago. They were pretty easy to set through the app.
