  • Great clamp, use with OTC 6730 then any kit's cups should fit
This is a great C clamp with very large opening-much larger (maybe 9") compared to ones that come in kits (which maybe open to 6"). I used it with OTC 6730 C-Frame adapters, and then used the cups from Astro 7897 on the ball joints on my truck. PS: Make sure you find the small bolt that is loose in the box that is used in the circular part of the clamp to hold onto cup adapter. I almost threw it away--it fell out as the box was going in the trash. ... show more

  • Should have bought this a long time ago....
Job: Removing And Installing Upper Ball Joints in a 2000 Toyota Tundra 😑 This job sucked. BUT I’m leaving this here to let people know the standard 6” standard C frame press found in kits Was NOT wide enough to fit all the adapters, receivers and ball joint to press out so after trip after trip and rental after rental from Oreilys we broke down and bought this! And thank god we did. Did the job in no time with more than enough room in the width! (As others have reviewed it does have a width of about 9”) I also purchased the OTC 6730 adapter kit and it worked PERFECT. It’s a big son of a B but if your reading this and were running into the same problem, just get it. *Also if you have a toyota truck and are having problems finding adapters we purchased the Asian Adapter kit and used a receiver from a master kit and it fit perfect* ... show more

  • It is a beast - F250 ball joints and U-joints
I have the smaller 6in clamp that comes with most ball joint sets. It was about an 1" too small to get Dynatrac ball joints in an F250 after all the adapters that ar required. Doing the u-joints was very difficult with the smaller press as well. I bought this one for the other side. SOOOOO much easier. Ball joints and U-joints were on there for the last 13 yrs so yeah they were stuck. Snap-on MG725 ran out of gas. Put a Matco 3/4" impact on it and Bamm! - small cloud of smoke and a freed joint. The C-frame was undamaged. All these guys bending presses - probably need to be taking their time and whacking the joint with a hammer as the screw is turned to help break the rust bonds. ... show more

  • Very sturdy (and heavy!) tool - too bad the adapter kits costs just as much!
The tool is great, and priced competitively with other options of similar size. Too bad the matching adapter kit costs just as much as this tool itself! You really need that two-piece adapter kit to make full use of this tool, as the hole on one end of the tool is over-sized versus other tools, making the adapter piece for that end almost required. On the threaded press end, the smaller "anvil" almost requires the cone adapter piece (from the two-piece adapter kit) to be used, as most other adapter will not fit snugly. I cannot rate it higher than 3-stars, as this tool really requires the overpriced, matching two-piece adapter set. ... show more

  • which is easy to say now that the job is done- before ...
this thing is overpriced, which is easy to say now that the job is done- before that, it's worth every penny. It made short work of the axle mounted panhard rod ball joint on my 09 Super Duty (pressing it in). my other press was ridiculed by both the axle and the ball joint. i saw them shudder in fear when i plopped that monstrous thing on the deck for them to see- and five minutes later the job was done... there is a certain peace in having the right tool for the job... and this one is it. ... show more

  • Good size, looks cheap.
I like this for the large frame size. It seems to be well made, but there's no indication of where it is made, and it looks exactly like my cheap Chinese clamp that bent after a few uses. The paint is globbed on, not what you would see on a quality tool. The threads were rough, but after several uses they have smoothed out. Machining looks about the same as my bent one. But, it has not deformed yet, so it gets 4 stars. We'll see what happens after a few 'sticky' ball joints. ... show more

  • Awesome Tool
This thing works great. Extremely strong and of high quality. My son and I have used it several times to change the upper and lower ball joints on my 2006 Dodge Ram 3500 4X4. Don't ask, that's a whole other story! Back to Mopar OEM ball joints now and the truck drives great. See my customer image for the opening measurements. ... show more

  • Great for 2002 Dodge Ram 4x4
I wouldn’t have been able to change my lower bushings without this jumbo clamp and a specialized Miller lower bushing kit. I’m working on a 2002 Dodge Ram 4x4. I also used it to put the torsion keys back in. I also used it to press in the calipers on my brakes. Too cool!
