I upgraded this from an 8-year-old HD Optoma (which we’ve loved). This newer model has been fantastic. Brighter, sharper picture with fabulous contrast. PRO TIP: I discovered the hard way that none of my old HDMI cables or switches would work (e.g., I have an HDMI/audio splitter so I can send the video signal to the projector and the audio to my Sonos speaker system). None of the old HD cabling or devices will work with a 4k projector, particularly if (a) you want to access all of the projector’s features (e.g., image presets, detailed image controls) or (b) you want to stream video in 4k. This layer issue is due to copyright protections on 4k video streams. Make sure your cables and devices are HDCP 2.2/2.3 compliant.

I went from a UHD 50 after two bulbs and two years. This new laser unit is so far superior to the bulb style units it's unbelievable. I was never really impressed with the last unit it was a bit fuzzy and not nearly as bright as I would have liked. This unit is crystal clear and has a much brighter and sharper picture than the bulb unit ever had. I am very impressed and very happy with this projector! I'm using a 150 in screen and it looks like a regular TV!

Buyer beware. I bought this back in December and it was great for a few months. It started to flicker and I tried all the options on their site. I filed a ticket in March and they never replied to me (support claimed they did but he wouldn't resend it to me just tried to say I needed to talk to that agent). Fast forward to a few minutes ago when I finally broke down and called as it is far worse now. Support tried to pass it off, didn't know I could get the serial number from the screen which showed they didn't know the product in the tech support department, and he just said he would put in a ticket to have a technician look at it. How? That's an RMA, how would you schedule a technician to come out. Hate to sound like a Karen (sorry to Karen's but that happened to your name) and I asked for a supervisor because I figured the current person wasn't understanding the issue. It's known, it's reported here on Amazon and the web. Why deny it. Anyways, he refused and I let him know I would report it as I would have to call again. Who doesn't get upset at that. Called again, next person must have been in the same room, sorry you guys don't get to WFH. He said that it was likely the HDMI cord. Figured why would he also be a jerk. Well I looked the cord is the one he said I should have. Unfortunately they will not support their product and you will need to use consumer protection organizations to get them to honor their warranty for their products.

We are absolutely thrilled with the Optoma UHZ45 projector! The 4K UHD resolution delivers incredibly crisp and vibrant images with exceptional clarity. It's like having a cinema in your living room! One of the standout features for me is the enhanced gaming mode. It takes gaming to the next level with a lightning-fast 16.7ms response time in 4K at 60Hz and an impressive 4ms in 1080p at 240Hz. Gamers, you're in for a treat! The projector is packed with the latest technology, including HDR and HLG compatibility, three HDMI 2.0 inputs, and Full 3D support. Firmware upgrade caused a message (WPS-...) to stay in upper corner of screen no matter which input. Only way to get it to go away is to turn off the wifi. Message also stays on if you use ethernet. Tech support confirmed they messed up the firmware but its been a few months no fix yet. Other than that is has a beautiful picture, auto keystone works well. Handles dark scenes ok not great. Colors are vibrant. For the money i'd say you can't beat it, just don't upgrade your firmware until they fix the issue.

I thought I might have trouble with zoom as my previous projector was 4.3 and the ceiling mount seemed too close. I did need a larger screen but that was bonus. I now have an awesome 9' diag. picture still maintaining the proper seating ratio. The 4k picture is wonderful, the only feature I missed a power zoom, but once set manually there was no need to set again. Quite satisfied with this Optima!
