  • Works great! Awesome value, bright and clear picture!
The media could not be loaded. Being new to projectors I spent a few days researching. The H190X seemed like the best value and also checked my boxes for having a built in speaker, audio out, and a composite (yellow) video-in port. I decided to give it a shot and have been very impressed so far. Picture is very clear and outputting just over 720p off of my laptop. Very bright too, it still looks good with the lights on. Also am pleasantly surprised with the speaker, I wasn’t expecting much but it’s decent and gets pretty loud - I would say comparable to a TV built in speaker. Only complaint that I have is that it would be nice to have horizontal keystone (only has vertical). Would definitely recommend this over the cheap Chinese mini projectors that are hit or miss and in my opinion the H190X is better value than a BenQ or Epson at the same price level. Review may change as time goes on but I am very happy so far. The video attached to this review is about 80 inches diagonal, Netflix off of a laptop at 1260x800 res and vertical keystone adjusted a few notches. A word of advice is to adjust the output resolution setting on your input device to optimize the picture. ... show more

  • Love it. Great picture, 3D.
Great option if you need a 3D projector and aren't a pixel counter. Very bright. Replacement bulbs are affordable. And I've been very happy with the picture. 3d works great with generic DLP 3D glasses.

  • Lacks Features But Fantastic Picture
I ordered this because I have a limited budget and wanted a very bright picture. This filled the bill. The good: Very bright. Used outdoors at sundown but still semi-bright skies. It was easily viewable but lacked some contrast. As it got dark about 20 minutes later it was dazzeling. Filled a 120" screen no problem at 12'. Was easy to use the projector. All controls are well labled and responsive. The bad: Only one input HDMI. Lens shift only vertical Lens shift digital Limited Zoom These are well documented and for my money easy to go around. Can get anything you want on the screen by using a Roku stick into the HDMI. Make sure you can put the projector in an optimal place so the lens shift and limited zoom is not a problem. All in all just remember the price. You sacrifice features NOT quality. ... show more

  • Very disappointed
This is my 3rd Optoma. My 2nd one (H180X) lasted 7 years - and so did its original bulb!! It's predecessor, an HD72, lasted 8 years, with 2 bulb changes. I bought this one over a year ago as an emergency backup in case the 2nd one suddenly died, and today was the first time taking it out of its original packaging. First, this one is MUCH quieter than my trusty 2nd one (which had a slightly noticeable hum during operation). But that's the only good thing. The Zoom dial does not connect with the internal zoom mechanism. There are 2 black spots on one of the internal lenses or mirror - and I can't get to them. I went through several videos on how to gain access, but the models in those videos seem more serviceable than this model. And, since it is more than 1 year since purchase, I have no warranty options left. About the only option I have left is to see if a nearby Geek Squad is able to clean it. Edit: 2023 01 15 - decided to put this one in service (my old one finally blew the bulb - the longest lasting bulb I've ever had or heard of. I have a replacement, just need to replace it and clean the fans, a project for another day), and the disappointment continues. The "standard" mounting holes on this unit require different sized than my older Optoma (why???), and it doesn't come with the right ones, so I had to scrounge around my workshop to find something that worked (ended up using standard (US) electrical outlet screws (robbed them from a stash of light switches). Eventually got it mounted and have used it for a few days now... Operational review: Con - the dirt on the lens. It's in a corner and I'm going to try to ignore it for as long as I can. Standard settings - the standard settings for brightness, color, tint, sharpness, and gamma correction are a bit vulgar. It's like it was designed for office slide shows, not TV and movies - regardless of the Color Mode settings. In fact, their color mode of Movie is worse than the mode called Video. Con - color of people's skin is way off - too orange. I've made a lot of adjustments and seem to have most of the skin tone resolved, but some people still look too orange or blotchy. Con - throw length is different than my previous Optoma. I have this mounted in the exact same place as my previous Optomo, with matching specs, yet this one seems to need to be moved further back. One of the resolutions (main screen of my XBMC/Kodi) no longer fits in my screen. Luckily SD and HD shows (on both XBMC and Dish) fit. Con - in Eco+ mode, the brightness keeps trying to auto-adjust itself and is extremely annoying. Luckily the Eco. mode does not do that. The 2 Pro's here raised my rating from 1 star to 2 stars... Pro - omg, I can't believe how much quieter this unit is (if set to Eco.) My older Optoma was much noisier. Pro - much more vivid. Even with brightness set to Eco. and sharpness turned all the way down, and all of the other things that I made more mellow (by default these things are usually tuned to look good in fluorescent lit showrooms), the light colors and whites are very bright, and the dark and blacks are very dark (in a good way). If not for the dust in the lens that I can't get to (and I'm mechanically inclined), this would be a decent projector, despite the other cons. ... show more

  • If looking for an affordable projector this is the one for you
Excellent picture quality in light or dark room. Projects around 100 inches from 12 feet. Works well with PS5, no lag, works great with cable box and firestick. Speakers are good enough but like all projectors I would recommend a sound system. Fan motor is not as loud as others and is masked when sound is on. Only comes with basic pamphlet on setup, you need to go into settings and learn the buttons on remote yourself.... ... show more

  • No need to go to the movies
This is maybe the best purchase I’ve made for our house! The color is amazing and the brightness makes it so you can watch a movie without blackout curtains!
