The media could not be loaded. I originally ordered the Optimus H-1322 Portable 2-Speed Heater on December 17, 2013 My office tends to be on the cold and I tend to always be cold, so I really needed a good heater to stick under my desk at work to help warm me up. I used it almost every day during the fall and winter and even a bunch of days in the spring and it worked great - while everyone else was freezing, I was nice and toasty. It was also pretty quiet and never disturbed anyone else in the office (see video). Unfortunately, our journey came to an end last week when, out of the blue, it just stopped working. I was heartbroken but we had a good run and then I remembered that I bought it on Amazon and that they had a record of my purchase so that I could find the same exact heater and buy it again! Huzzah! My new heater arrived a few days ago, and while I'll always be grateful to Optimus #1, I'm sure that Optimus #2 will keep me warm for many more years to come. ... show more

It has a nice big grill with a fan to distribute heat vs just localized heat. You can use it year round (summer) using just the fan setting. Has an emergency shutoff if it gets knocked over, I keep the central heat at 63° and this keeps my room at 68°. Saves me about $100-150 a month. Real light weight too. ... show more

    • I was pleasantly surprised!
When I got this item, it had a piece broken off and it didn't work properly. I wanted a replacement but they didn't have any at that time. So when it was back in stock, I sent it back so I could get the replacement at the same price. Well, it was a little after 30 days so I didn't get reimbursed for the full amount. Just be aware of that. I didn't know that. That being said...now on to the review of the product itself. It is very light and appears to be "cheap". It looks and feel like cheap plastic but from my 5 star review you can see that it actually works great! It has a plastic piece on the bottom so if the fan/heater falls over, it will turn off. That's a good safety feature, but be careful. That piece was already broken off on the first one when it arrived. It had a smell at first, like a burning rubber type smell, but after continued use the smell has completely gone away. I am amazed at how much heat this little heater gives out. Of course, it's not going to heat up a huge room, but it's perfect for small spaces. I put it on the floor at my feet or on top of my desk to provide warmth while I am working. I've only used the heater, as it's winter right now, and it works great. In the summer, I will use the fan. That's what is so great. You get 2 products in one. It is a heater and a fan. And it is small, so it doesn't take much room in storage. I like how it is portable and has a handle on the top of it. It does make noise when it is on. Pretty much every fan or heater makes noise, but I would not say it is too loud. I don't think it is TOO noisy. ... show more

    • The Heater I Received Appeared Used...And It Moved Across Floors (and Over Counters) When In Use!
I wanted to get a small, portable space heater to use during my kids' bathtime. It's freezing in our house in winter, the kids are young, and I just wanted something to help warm up a small, cold room. Well.... I'd read warnings (other reviews) that said this space heater was noisy. When I first plugged it in, yes, it was kind of noisy. But not enough to bother my (much noisier) kids. However, I did notice something strange. When I first took the unit out of the box, the cord wasn't wrapped up neatly. You know how basically every electronic appliance you've ever bought has a twist-tie around the cord, and the cord and twist-tie are both always wrapped up in a supremely neat manner that makes you think a robot did it? Because no human, no matter how hard you try, can ever replicate the perfection of an out-of-the-box twist-tie? Not this item. The cord was haphazardly folded a few times, and the twist-tie attached, but not in a neat, a-robot-must-be-responsible way. It looked like I -- or one of my kids -- had done it. Then I noticed that the (painted on) words/logo on the space heater were scratched off a bit, as if it was, well, used. Okay, no biggie. I figured -- hey -- this was SO CHEAP. As long as it works, I'm fine with this. I will not be a prima donna over a space heater. So I plugged it in, it whirs away. The noise isn't that bad, and the machine DOES heat up the small room, and quickly. But...and this is a big but...it moves. As in, as soon as I plugged it in, it started shimmying and shaking across the floor. Quickly, too. The cord isn't that long, but basically, as soon as the unit was plugged in, it would shake and rattle across the floor until it hit something and got tangled with it. Something like, I don't know, a small pile of (flammable) baby clothes. Or a small (flammable) bathroom rug. Once it hit something, it would continue to vibrate and shake and try to climb OVER whatever it was basically humping. Obviously I turned the thing off or moved it, but... talk about a fire hazard! I thought, okay, I can't leave this FAST-MOVING HEATED DEVICE on the floor. I'll try the counter. So I put it on the counter, plugged it in, and...it basically tried to shoot itself right off the counter, lemming-style, toward the floor. That's when I decided: NOPE. This is going back. Thankfully, no issues with returning this to Amazon! To sum up: PROS: -- heats quickly -- not THAT lou -- cheap CONS: -- appeared used -- basically becomes a fast-moving, uncontrollable heated element as soon as you plug it in! ... show more
