Died right after 36 month warranty expired. Battery will not crank the car after sitting over 24 hours, it is winter and temps are dipping at night, however I have vehicles on same driveway that start no problem. One battery is almost double the age of the Optima, it is AC Delco that costs a bit more than half of the redtop. Otima states that batteries last up to 3 times longer than other brands... Yeah, OK... That is a first Optima I got and last one for sure. I had wall-mart and Menard's batteries lasting way longer for a fraction of the price! There is a ton of forums and reviews describing same short life of Yello and Red tops. I wish I researched a bit more before buying. It looks great in my Lexus, but that is about it.... ... show more

The battery died on my Scion tC and I went straight to Amazon to find a new one. I have had an optima Red-Top in my Prelude for about 6 years now and it still runs strong (Worth it for just the winter starts alone), so I naturally went for the same battery this time. As far as the battery is concerned: ......Works great right out of the box ......Battery was charged enough from the factory to get the car started right out of the box. ......Size and weight are very close to the OEM tC battery, It fit right in place with no mods. (Also, I do agree with the previous poster who said the terminal protector case would serve great as a booster to pick the battery up an inch or two. It's just a square piece of plastic) As far as the shipping and packing by Amazon is concerned: ......First, I'll admit, I was concerned about the shipping based on what I read in the other reviews, but I know Amazon is on top of most problems pretty quickly and I was hoping they had addressed the packing issue by now. So I went ahead and ordered. ......Well, as soon as I opened it up, It was obvious they fixed the packing problem. It was packed VERY well. You can see in the pictures that the used chunks of cardboard pieces sandwiched between an inner and outer layer on all four sides. No cheap popcorn or anything. ......The battery arrived with no dents or scratches ......Never doubt Amazon, my son. All and all....a great buy! ... show more

Lasted for almost 9 years! This battery was purchased back in September/2015; & has to be the most impressive battery that I've experienced in my 40+ yrs of driving Multiple vehicles! I began having issues "starting-up" last January, IF I let it sit more than 3 days with-out driving it! It would just turn over 1-2 times & then only click... requiring a jump... Then it would continue to start up fine the rest of the day, & as long as I started it up, & drove it every day, it worked just fine; until I let it sit again for more than 3 days with-out starting/driving it! = Jump! The specialist claim the average battery life is 3-5 years, but isn't unheard of getting 6 years, if you keep your car well maintained & the battery god's favor you! lol But 9 years,..... That's impressive AF! I went with (purchased) the slightly stronger, more expensive yellow top this time around; see if I can get 10 yrs out of this one, lol.... But I hate to toss the old one out; I'll find an alternative use for it... It's a little dirty, but still has a little life left, if doesn't involve starting engines; I'm thinking this Christmas train I'm build as front yard display to drive around my 8' inflatable Tree, lol... Anywho, here's a picture of it! These Optima's, are the "Father of all car Batteries!" I highly recommend getting one! Good luck! ... show more

Bought 20 months ago, won't hold charge, confirmed professionally. Autozone told me it's dead. ~~~~Update: Aug 28 2019~~~~ There is some hope for resolution. Optima batteries don't charge well if they've been drained under 10 volts. (Conventional car batteries can't pull voltage up that that low.) So, Optima customer support suggested I charge the battery in parallel with a good battery, which will bring up the voltage to a level where a charger can take over. ~~~~~Update Sept 3 2019 ~~~~~~ I was able to get the battery charged back up to 12.35 volts, and it's holding steady. These Red Top batteries cannot be charged with a battery charger if they get below 8 volts or so. So, Optima customer service stated I needed to hook the dead battery up in parallel with a good battery, and then do the charging again. This worked. the dead battery got up to 11 volts over a couple of hours of parallel charging. Then, I charged it on its own overnight, slow charge, and it's up @ 12.35 volts. So, there are a lot of people who reviewed this battery high. and I haven't given up on it. I know now, with this battery, it can't sit in a car unused for 1-2 weeks without needing some extra TLC. On the bright-side, Optima customer care were helpful. And they told me that if the battery could not be charged back up, they would stand by their warranty, and work with Amazon to get a replacement. That's pretty cool. 3 stars = not a great product experience, being without a working battery for 1-2 weeks. but an extra star because Optima customer service was great. ... show more
