  • Optima batteries are great
Product Packaging: Retail
Great battery. I’ve used the marine battery, and knew these were hard working batteries. Worth the price. The fit is a bit smaller than my previous vehicle batteries, but my battery case keeps it safe and snug. Cranking power is great.

  • Excellent!
Product Packaging: Retail
The best batteries I've ever used. They last for many years, even in very hot weather.

  • Short life just pass the warranty. Read forums and reviews, I wish I did.
Product Packaging: Retail
Died right after 36 month warranty expired. Battery will not crank the car after sitting over 24 hours, it is winter and temps are dipping at night, however I have vehicles on same driveway that start no problem. One battery is almost double the age of the Optima, it is AC Delco that costs a bit more than half of the redtop. Otima states that batteries last up to 3 times longer than other brands... Yeah, OK... That is a first Optima I got and last one for sure. I had wall-mart and Menard's batteries lasting way longer for a fraction of the price! There is a ton of forums and reviews describing same short life of Yello and Red tops. I wish I researched a bit more before buying. It looks great in my Lexus, but that is about it.... ... show more

It’s a good battery so far. But it does not for my 2008 Lexus GS-350.

  • Shipping problem has been addressed
Product Packaging: Retail
The battery died on my Scion tC and I went straight to Amazon to find a new one. I have had an optima Red-Top in my Prelude for about 6 years now and it still runs strong (Worth it for just the winter starts alone), so I naturally went for the same battery this time. As far as the battery is concerned: ......Works great right out of the box ......Battery was charged enough from the factory to get the car started right out of the box. ......Size and weight are very close to the OEM tC battery, It fit right in place with no mods. (Also, I do agree with the previous poster who said the terminal protector case would serve great as a booster to pick the battery up an inch or two. It's just a square piece of plastic) As far as the shipping and packing by Amazon is concerned: ......First, I'll admit, I was concerned about the shipping based on what I read in the other reviews, but I know Amazon is on top of most problems pretty quickly and I was hoping they had addressed the packing issue by now. So I went ahead and ordered. ......Well, as soon as I opened it up, It was obvious they fixed the packing problem. It was packed VERY well. You can see in the pictures that the used chunks of cardboard pieces sandwiched between an inner and outer layer on all four sides. No cheap popcorn or anything. ......The battery arrived with no dents or scratches ......Never doubt Amazon, my son. All and all....a great buy! ... show more

  • Failed, won't hold charge after 20 months. I was able to resurrect it.
Product Packaging: Retail
Bought 20 months ago, won't hold charge, confirmed professionally. Autozone told me it's dead. ~~~~Update: Aug 28 2019~~~~ There is some hope for resolution. Optima batteries don't charge well if they've been drained under 10 volts. (Conventional car batteries can't pull voltage up that that low.) So, Optima customer support suggested I charge the battery in parallel with a good battery, which will bring up the voltage to a level where a charger can take over. ~~~~~Update Sept 3 2019 ~~~~~~ I was able to get the battery charged back up to 12.35 volts, and it's holding steady. These Red Top batteries cannot be charged with a battery charger if they get below 8 volts or so. So, Optima customer service stated I needed to hook the dead battery up in parallel with a good battery, and then do the charging again. This worked. the dead battery got up to 11 volts over a couple of hours of parallel charging. Then, I charged it on its own overnight, slow charge, and it's up @ 12.35 volts. So, there are a lot of people who reviewed this battery high. and I haven't given up on it. I know now, with this battery, it can't sit in a car unused for 1-2 weeks without needing some extra TLC. On the bright-side, Optima customer care were helpful. And they told me that if the battery could not be charged back up, they would stand by their warranty, and work with Amazon to get a replacement. That's pretty cool. 3 stars = not a great product experience, being without a working battery for 1-2 weeks. but an extra star because Optima customer service was great. ... show more

  • Worth every single penny!
Product Packaging: Retail
I have used Optima batteries in the past. But recently, financially, I simply could not afford one. Then I found myself and husband stranded at the grocery store. I called a tow truck and he used his jump pack to jump start the car. I was flummoxed. I had the battery *and* alternator tested previously due to some starting issues. (failure start) They both tested fine. Thankfully, my insurance coverage pays for things like that so I was not out of pocket money to the driver. That was my clue it was time to stop fussing with cheap batteries and bite the bullet. I am not sorry, not one single bit. The warranty Optima has, the durability, the reliability! The cold starting in the dead of winter. This company has never failed me. If you want a battery that will get you through the winter months, go get one! You think everything is fine, I don't need that. My car starts. Well, remember back in the day when a battery was weak and cars didn't have all the electronics in them? If you are old enough, you know what I mean. It would drag and you'd know simply by trying to start the car. But no. Not new cars these days. If your battery doesn't have enough juice to start the car, it simply will not do a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g! No clicks, no starter grrs, nothing. You think to yourself, "I'll just drive to the grocery store real quick to get the stuff I need to do the stuff I'm doing." Then BAM. Nothing. Stuck. OOOORRR.... you're at the grocery store. Seriously, get your stuff tested before colder weather hits. You do NOT want that tow bill! ... show more
