    • A Workhorse➖Does My Work Without Me Adding to Arthritis & Joint Pain!

This arrived from the vendor in a very sturdy sealed outer cardboard box. The contents were surrounded by styrofoam with the bottom thick & molded to conform to the heavy base, the main mixer, & compartments to hold the tri-bar piece, the power supply & cords, the 2 mixing rods, & a plastic re-closable zip lock bag with an instruction/inventory sheet, a socket wrench & a hex key. It takes about 5 minutes to set up mainly to get it out of the box & get the plastic & styrofoam pulled away. I don’t use this often, but for when I need it this thing is really worth its weight in gold. I make real actual colloidal silver cremes (most of the stuff on the market is they wish they knew how) & it was always (I thought) a chore to mix them with a big whip or a little hand held mixer. This is much easier than hand mixing either with a whip or machine. This saves my hands from getting more arthritis. I think if I were going to write instructions for others to follow (including my own notes or recipes) it’s a bit difficult to describe “turn the speed dial mid way” & have that translate to other peoples’ equipment. Even my own recall of what midway is can be suspect. So a digital readout might be a better choice if you are writing manuals or doing technical docs. But a few digits of speed in my case isn’t going to make my end product fail or be less viable, but in some cases precision speed that can be duplicated could be important. But other than the speed being a bit subjective, this thing really is a workhorse & works better than I could have imagined. It mixes my cremes easily, I can go on & do something else instead of being tied up stirring. Maybe most significant it could very well save me many future moments of joint & finger pain!     • Perfectly mixed acrylic paint for pouring!

I am a freelance artist that sells acrylic poured canvas art, and I’ve needed an automated solution for mixing my paint and pouring medium. The stand is sturdy and makes it easy to adjust the height of the mixer to fit whatever cup I’m mixing in. This is perfect for mixing acrylic paint and the pouring medium because the motor is powerful enough to mix viscous liquids without creating bubbles. The motor is microprocessor controlled so even after adding a viscous liquid there is no splashing. I like that it has a steady base, adjustable speed, and two stirring rods included. It is good, but no time setting on it. So, I cannot set a time and pace and let it work independently, sound an alarm, and notify me when done.

I actually got this to stir epoxy. I make a lot of epoxy crafts and I needed a way to stir without having to the stirrer. This is working great. I added silicone to a stirrer so that I can use it to mix the epoxy and it works great. It makes it so easy to mix and does not produce bubbles. I am so glad that I decided to try this.     • Really nice light duty lab stirrer

Keyless chuck is nice, you can use just about any cheap stirring rod from the paint store unless you need the features of a pricey lab-grade one. The silicone chuck cover is nice protection for the motor, but since you can't adjust the chuck with it in place I'd skip it if what you're stirring isn't releasing solvent fumes. The feature I miss the most from pricier models is having the stir rod slide up through the head so you don't have to raise the whole motor to remove the container. Get a spare clamp / shaft collar / drill stop to mount on the support rod to make it easy to drop the motor back down to the same height every time. 10,000 cps is pushing this little guy awfully hard for max viscosity. That's the same rating stirrers with twice the motor typically have. If you're really going to be stirring thick goos, you probably need a heftier model. Fine for most paints and epoxy coatings etc. (As long as you don't get distracted and let the epoxy kick off while stirring it. Not that anyone I know would ever do that. LOL) Pretty standard size base, so a 7-8" hotplate fits nicely between the arms. I keep an 8" mag stirrer / hot plate there and rotate this head in when I need the extra oomph. I'll give it that 5th star for being such a good value. I hope the motor holds up. Won't know for a year or two. ... show more

The lab overhead stirrer (ASIN: B0BRXSL1F8) is a good system. The stirrer has a strong motor that can handle significant viscosities. It has handled well both paints and pigments. The paddles are held in place by a keyless chuck, a nice feature. However, one must raise and lower the entire motor and stirrer to place and then remove samples instead of being able to raise the paddle alone through the chuck. The support stand is good with the base being wide enough to accommodate a hot plate/magnetic bar stirrer combo. It would have been nice if the unit came with a timer off function with a completion alarm. ... show more

This is one strong and powerful overhead stirrer with rock-solid build quality. Its heavy base and solid steel post support pole will give you confidence that the stirrer itself is well supported without any stability issues, and the suction cups attached to the bottom of the base keep it from moving around in my stainless steel sink. The motor is strong and mixes liquids with ease but I have yet to try it with viscous solutions. It has a continuously variable motor that goes as slow as a 1½ rotations per second and I can't even turn it up all the way because the solution moves too fast to stay in its container. That extra power (torque) and headroom on the motor will come in handy if I do have to mix up any viscous solutions. ... show more
