Seems great so far, but I've only had mine for a couple months and I've only used it a few times. One great feature is that the stirring seems to be intelligent enough to slowly increase the stirring rate or to temporarily decrease the stirring rate if you're mixing something viscous or chunky. The ones we have at work don't do this so if something interrupts the stir bar it launches off into one corner of the vessel and you have to turn the stirring and slowly turn it up again. This product is great in that you can turn the stirring on and walk away knowing that it'll be stirring 10hrs later when you get back. The "problem" with rating products like these is that you never really know what rating to give them until it's far too late to actually rate them. The products that my work buys for the lab are at least 5x more expensive, but we expect them to last for 20 years. In the short term I can confirm that this works just as well as the professional ones we buy for work. I'll take good care of it and see how it's working in 20 years! ... show more

Not recommended for brewing coffee. My stove heats up faster. They said that's because they built it for accuracy... (tisk)... yeah, but that's why we bought it. I NEED PER-FECT coffee to get 5 stars for our shop... What am I supposed to tell Pip now?? Our dreams are ruined!! We'll be BURIED in a 4 star coffin.. and no-one will morn our 4 star deaths!! ... show more

Worked great for the first 3 uses. 4th use, magnetic stir motor no longer works and reads "error 8" (that's the "i'm broken please fix me" error). Leaving this 1-star review up temporarily in hopes of getting in contact with manufacturer. Emailed the address in the owners manual and now waiting for reply. We purchased this item new in June 2022 from amazon, so less than one year old and only used a handful of times. UPDATE: manufacturer shipped new unit to me asap. Waiting for the package now. Doesn't seem to be a problem experienced by everybody, so hopefully this company has great customer service! ... show more

    • A nice machine, took some getting used to

I have modest heating needs, rarely anything over 100C, and this hot plate accomplishes that easily. I more often need a stirrer, working with volumes from 100ml up to 3 liters. So far, this stirrer has had no trouble with anything I have asked of it. It has a good, strong magnetic grip on the stir bar and does not lose the bar even when getting hit with solids, as when sterilizing explants, for example. My previous stirrer was pretty wimpy and the stir rod would frequently be dislodged, which is always annoying. I am accustomed to analog stirrers, so I had to change my expectations with this digital device. Turning up the speed does not result in an immediate change. It slowly ramps up the speed to match the setting. If you are used to cranking an analog knob back and forth, it is a little disconcerting when nothing changes but the number on the display. On the other hand, it is nice to be able to achieve exactly the same speed with each batch. I did have a strange experience out of the box, when the stirrer refused to come up to speed. I dialed it up to 1500 and it remained at minimum speed for at least ten minutes, before it started climbing up to full speed. I contacted their customer support and received a quick response but, after that first time, it has always responded normally. ... show more

Purchased this product to keep formula at a range of 98 to 102 degrees Fahrenheit. (Although the warmer registers in Celsius it is easy to convert the math). As seen in the photo, I found that it works best keeping the temperature probe in a water bath in a glass bowl, and a Pyrex glass measuring cup holding the formula inside the bath to keep a steady temperature. I would also recommend warming the water bath on the lab warmer first, then heat the formula in the microwave to the desired temperature before placing inside the bath. It worked so well I purchased a second one! Unfortunately one of the warmers stopped working but the seller was very responsive, worked hard to fix the problem and quick to replace it! They were very generous and I'm extremely satisfied! Highly recommend! ... show more

    • Quiet, Efficient, Beautiful

I'm an at-home amateur chemist; I mix herbal medicines that I send out to a real lab for analysis before using. I want some precision and ease when I'm heating and mixing and this hotplate/mixer is incredible for my purposes. It's nearly silent, the controls are digital, easy to use (stuck in Celcius but I'm over it), and the magnetic mixer ramps up to the chosen speed (I didn't expect that). The clamp rod is sturdy and the whole thing feels right out of a professional laboratory. The external temperature probe is essential when I'm using an oil-bath for precise heating, and while sometimes I quibble a bit about discrepancies between the hotplate's readings and my other thermometers, I'm not needing more precision anyways. Honestly, I didn't know how much I need this and now I won't live without it. I bought a different hotplate/mixer as backup; it cost half the price, and was without the temp probe or digital controls. I returned that one gratefully and now if I need a backup I'll buy another one from ONiLAB. I hope this helps you! ... show more
