Depending on the mag bar used & viscosity, the stir function works great for 1,000 ml. If you have a prob. with the stirrer 'throwing' the bar, use a shorter bar. The heating function is not fast as indicated by the 250w heater rating. However, with time it reaches & maintains the target temp I need (just below boiling) without being maxed out. Given the balance between price & function, this is an excellent value.

It's a good unit but I missed the fact that it can only heat to 80C. Not a lot of use for that.

This is a great product for the money. But if you need something for advanced chemistry, I would recommend buying a more expensive model with an LCD screen that gives you your spin right and actual temperature because these knobs don't tell you any of that.

Poor quality, stopped running after about 300 hours. No excuse, there is negligible load on the motor, it won't run. Took it apart and lubricated motor shaft nylon bearings, did not help. Heater never worked properly, did nothing when turning the knob until 1/4 around and then would only heat above 80 C. I needed 60 C so I took it apart and added a resistor to the triac trigger circuit, which worked but this kind of surgery should not be necessary. Then the motor quit. Using it for solubilization of Voriconazole in sulfobutyl ether beta cyclodextrin, which requires a week of gentle stirring at 60 C. Initially contacted seller about thermal problem, no response.

I saw reviews claiming that it doesn't get very hot. Untrue, it gets hot. The entire thing gets hot, the housing gets just as hot as the plate. Unfortunately not hot enough to boil water, but after 45 minutes it did get alcohol to almost boiling temp. It stirs really well so if you are just looking to stir something while keeping it warm, this is the one.

I like them at it has a heat control switch and it's perfect for mixing up things that need to be fully saturated. Great price. Easy to use.

No temperature control at all, weird burning oil smell when running at high temperatures, but you know what? It costs $30 and it both heats solutions AND stirs them. If you need more features, don't get this, but if you just want to heat stuff up while stirring it, this is your guy.
