This magnetic stirrer does exactly what I expected it to. It's compact, simple to use and functions exactly as expected. The magnetic 'bar' that came with it (its more like a capsule) is small enough to fit into just about any vessel I'd want to mix in, but the size of it does mean its prone to spinning out of alignment and losing its magnetic pull with the motor inside the base. It's still a great purchase, especially for the price and ease of use. I'd suggest shipping it with mutiple stir bars tocthe seller and to the buyer, I'd suggest buying a variety of stir bars until then. ... show more

    • Perfect for cooling hard boiled eggs
To make hard boiled eggs easy to peel, they need to be quickly cooled right after they come out of the boiling water. To do this efficiently, I created the following kit, which works brilliantly every time. You need a 4 Quart glass bowl [https://www.amazon.com/Pyrex-Prepware-4-Quart-Rimmed-Mixing/dp/B07473FZXQ]. Yes, this is larger than the claimed 3L maximum volume for this stirrer, but it works great in this application. Next, you need some sturdy wire mesh, such as [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C691Q89P]. Take that wire mesh (careful, it has sharp edges), to your local metal fabrication shop which has a plasma cutter. Ask them to cut you out a 7" diameter circle from that mesh (discard the remainder). This circular mesh fits in the bottom of the bowl, above the spinner, holding the eggs and ice above the spinner. So, in the bowl go the spinner, and the 7" diameter circular mesh. When pouring in the ice, hold the mesh in place with one hand. Add enough water so the eggs will be covered. Turn on the spinner (half way works perfectly). Add the hot eggs. Set a timer for 30 minutes. When it's done, the eggs will be ready. ... show more

    • Laboratory Use - It works
The stir plate is very lightweight and feels a bit flimsy but it works well. We're using it to stir water samples in 400mL beakers while titrating with buret for chloride and other. Pulls a solid vortex on 100mL sample near the lowest setting but can be dialed down to a slow gentle stir or ramped up to a sloshing mess. Only real complaint is there is no off switch. Turned all the way down it still stirs at turtle speed. We plugged ours into a power strip so we have a way to power completely off. Also noticed the 9V power plug doesn't fit well into the socket on back of stir plate. But it makes contact and works without problem. Also noticed the power LED is wired in line with the stir speed control. So when you stir at low speed the LED is dim. High speed the LED gets very bright. Indicates very low-level circuitry. this one was brought by mistake, i was needing an Electromagnetic polishing drum and this small machine seemed similar and cheaper the machine itself was good and worked well but it was not suitable for my original need

I like that this product has a controllable dial. After about 6 weeks of use it stopped working. I gave the unit a bang on the side with my fist and it works again. Yay!

    • Reliable automatic stirrer for washing 3D prints
Instead of using a $200 machine to stir 2 gallons of expensive rubbing alcohol, this product can powerfully wash 3D prints using a fraction of the volume. I love using the magnetic pill technology because you can have several different size and shapes of your own containers and, as long as it has a flat surface for the pill to lay on, it can stir the liquid with ease. This saves me a ton of money and hassle cause no one wants to deal with 2 gallons of rubbing alcohol mixed with resin. ... show more

so I recently started a tie dye company and when your making a bunch of shirts you tend to run out of dye.. fairly quickly.. it also takes probably the most time mixing dye. I decided to try one of these to see how it compares to shaking a bottle or a mason jar. to my amazement, all I had to do was center the jar add the powder and water, turn it on and bingo! I had a little more hands off time to do other things. it mixes everything perfectly. the speed control is great. needless to say I bought 3 more. these have saved me so much time and energy and effort.
