  • Versatile entry-level machine
Size: 45W with Rotary axis
So far, I'm impressed with the K40+. Paired with Lightburn, it has done exceptionally well with the materials I have thrown into it so far. Setup: Setup has its challenges but was pretty straightforward and, for the most part, simple. Out of the box it COULD engrave but was out of alignment. Positioning the tube and mirrors is a bear, but a few hours and several feet of masking tape later and it was within tolerance. The gantry was (and remains) slightly out of square but not so much as to make a huge difference. I did opt for a "chiller" (really just a water tank with a radiator and fan), so as to have a sealed cooling system, as well as an in-line fan in the exhaust line, so I can't comment on how the included pump or internal fan do. Settings: You're basically flying blind with this machine. While I was able to locate some material baselines, they're far and few for the K40+ specifically. The minimum firing rate seems to be around 7%, which seems to work well for glass etching. Other materials I have worked into my library are leather, pine wood, polished white granite (using flat black spray paint as a marking paint), and jasper. Caveats: While the machine is capable, if you choose to use the rotary for engraving--tumblers for instance--the whole machine needs to be raised (and it's a heavy machine!) It's recommendable that it be set up on a 3-6" lift (or however tall suits your purposes) from the get-go if you plan to use the rotary or work with taller materials. It can also be a nuisance to get working with MacOS. The included software is only for Windows (and installs easily on Windows machines); to get it to work on a MacBook with the M1/2/3/4 chipset, for example, you have to get Lightburn and the .dmg package for the driver and give the driver permissions in your security settings in a couple of places. Honestly, don't expect plug-n-play. ... show more

  • Great laser overall, but skip the rotary attachment
Size: 45W with Rotary axis
I purchased the OMTech K40+ CO2 Laser Engraver with the rotary axis bundle, and overall, my experience with the laser itself has been very positive. For flat materials, this machine performs really well. I’ve successfully engraved plexiglass, glass sheets, tiles, and wood without any issues. It’s been reliable, easy to work with, and a solid entry-level CO₂ laser for a variety of projects. However, the rotary axis attachment is where things fall apart. The idea behind the rotary is great—you should be able to engrave items like wine glasses, whiskey glasses, champagne flutes, and even larger tumblers. Unfortunately, the physical design of the K40+ doesn’t provide enough vertical clearance to actually use it. The rotary sits too high inside the machine, and once it’s installed, there simply isn’t enough room to fit most cylindrical items. In many cases, the object either touches or exceeds the available height. The adjustable laser head doesn’t raise enough to compensate, making it impractical or impossible to use the rotary as intended. Because of this, the rotary attachment ends up being unusable in the stock configuration of this laser. My overall experience with the laser itself is still positive—I really do like the machine and what it can do. But I strongly recommend thinking carefully before purchasing the bundle with the rotary axis. Recommendation: Buy the laser if you’re planning to engrave flat materials—it works great for that. But skip the rotary attachment unless you’re planning to modify the machine. Otherwise, it’s likely to be something you won’t be able to use at all. ... show more

  • Did come with rotarty
Size: 45W with Rotary axis
Arrived well packaged, had a slight issue but omtech fixed it without delay. Pleased so far. My unit did come with a rotary despite what another review said. It was packaged separately to keep it from thrashing during shipping and the UPS driver left the packages in different locations

  • Rotary axis mislead

I ould not be more disappointed. Your title lead me to believe I would be able to engrave on a rotary axis. Would truly appreciate you to rectify this issue and then reword your add so that others are not as dissappointed.

  • You get what you pay for
Size: 45W with Rotary axis
Pros: low cost, high power CO2 laser Cons: did not arrive in working order, with multiple manufacturing and assembly defects. (See clearly mis-wired power supply) Support was responsive but ultimately unhelpful. I ended up working through most of the problems on my own. Only buy this laser if you are comfortable diagnosing and repairing it yourself. ... show more
