It got Clyde “The Pigeon” Drexler out of his shell, but not w/o some technical problems. It comes in a styrofoam box, within the cardboard box. The company seems to know this is often discarded by non-manual readers and have made it a point to tell you in several places it’s intended for cooler temperatures and not to throw it out. I don’t know why this is such an issue, but it must have been at some point. Here’s the problems I encountered: 1) the product is nearly square, but not quite, so after trying to fit the top on for a minute, I was about to cut the styrofoam to get it in place. I only needed to rotate it 90 degrees. This was most likely just a me problem. 2) I had trouble with the humidity. It seemed like it was never where I set it. I started thinking the sensor was bad, or possibly reading as inverse in relation to the amount of water I would add. I think I figured out what was going on with it the night before Clyde hatched, and it seems like this was also a me problem, albeit, somewhat facilitated by confusion on their part. I don’t remember because work had me burning the candle at both ends, so to speak, and I was very sleep deprived. Speaking of candles… here’s the good things: 1) the temp is spot on and doesn’t fail 2) the candling feature is very handy (though it takes a couple button presses to get it going sometimes) 3) it got me through my first and only attempt at hatching a pigeon egg

I found a couple of flaws in this product. Read before you buy. 1. The temperature and humidity reading is off from the 2nd ones I put inside. I put 2 different brands thermometers(w/ humidity) inside the incubator. They both reads very similar. But the reading on this incubator lid is way off from it. The lid says 102F w/ 30%, while my other two says 97.2F w/ 47%. I ended up stick to my own thermometers. It’s quite ironic my chicks hatched, according to the lid reading, 104F, 47%. 2. The wire is very annoying. It looks like designer forgot about it and add it last minute. I tape the wire along the side walls, but it still gets in the way, especially when I tried to open the lid. It also tripped chicks too. 3. The rollers got stuck easily. Watch out for your rollers. A little shift of the rollers can cause them stopped rolling. The design of spiral wheel rolling is less efficient than my daughter’s lego built. I have to keep an eye on the egg walking every couple of hours. 4. Very hard to clean. 5. The hole at bottom is way too big for quails. You need to put extra layer on the board.

The incubator is user-friendly and equipped with a temperature and humidity monitor. When the temperature setting drops, the incubator will emit a beeping sound. To ensure optimal temperature maintenance, it is recommended to keep the incubator inside the Styrofoam. Regarding humidity, it is normal for the humidity level to decrease periodically due to small holes on the side that allow air circulation. I think this feature is intended to prevent asphyxiation of the baby animals. The seller provides a small plastic bottle that you can fill up with water. Then squeeze the water gently into the small holes on the side to increase humidity. The candlelight function works well and provides sufficient visibility in dark rooms. Unfortunately, our incubator started malfunctioning after two and a half weeks, causing the settings controls to stop working. To complete the incubation process, we had to create a DIY incubator. Only one chick successfully hatched, while the other 11 eggs did not survive. We wish we could have had it for the whole period to hatch all the eggs properly. We contacted Amazon for a replacement, but when the replacement arrived, we discovered that the parts holding the rollers were broken. Despite our request for another replacement, Amazon only offered a refund. Update - 11/22/23 Their customer service saw our review and reached out to us to send us a replacement. Once we received the replacement, the box was oily like it had grease stains on it. we had to wipe it down. We are wondering if this was the shipping company or the manufacturer since this would have come directly from them. We used it in our next batch of eggs. This time it was perfect we were able to hatch 8 out of the 10 eggs. The other two eggs were not fertilized so that would be the eggs' fault and not the incubator. We will be continuing to use the incubator for more chickens. We updated the product review from 3 stars to 4 stars. I think there is room for improvement. It just seems like there is always an issue with something when receiving the incubator. I think if it was at least great once, it would be a 5-star. Just not sure what experience you would receive.
