  • Decent casters, safe on floors
Style: Transparent with Brake X5
Overall there isnt much to say about casters, theyre obviously something you dont spend much time evaluating, but what i can say is that these casters definitely protect the floor. This soft rubber material doesnt pull up rug threads like other casters, and does not leave any marks on hardwood floors. I have both rugs and hardwood floors and these casters are great for that. However i do have one complaint, which is that the lock mechanism for stopping the caster from rolling is huge and really juts out from the wheels. It does not help that they are rectangular and not smooth. I have not hurt myself on them, but i could definitely foresee that if i had a blanket, one of those pieces could catch it and rip it. ... show more

  • Really nice, may take getting used to.
Style: Transparent with Brake X5
Main Thoughts: -These wheels roll butter smooth, like it actually became difficult to *not* move. -Luckily there are breaks which counter this. Extra Thoughts: -There is a sort of -jolt- when you make large direction changes and the wheels have to rotate for the new direction. Not an issue, just something to be aware of. -If your not wearing shoes, ensure you can reach the locked wheels. It does hurt to try to unlock them barefoot. When fully scooted into my desk I need to resist the urge to rest a foot on the locking lever for this reason. ... show more

  • Nice and smooth
Style: Transparent with Brake X5
These are pretty great. They'd be perfect for hardwood or low pile carpet. I have super soft carpet so I'm not ready to give up my chair mat just yet. Only thing I don't love is the wheel locks that stick out. I've banged my heel on them a couple times, but that's probably just how I sit. I'm sure I'll adjust. ... show more

  • Nice Wheels, but...
Style: Transparent with Brake X5
These wheels are nice and help improve how easily your office chair can roll. However, with every wheel having the braking system on them, it makes it a pain not to hit them with your shoes, or even worse, bare feet. I can understand why they have the brakes, because they just roll away on unlevel ground, but for all of the wheels to have them is a little bit excessive. If you plan to use these on something like stainless steel kitchen shelves, then the brakes would make a lot more sense to have on all of the wheels. Overall, if the idea of each wheel having an extended brake doesn't bother you, or if you plan on using them strictly for that purpose on something other than an office chair, I would highly recommend them. ... show more

  • Rolling smoothly
Style: Transparent with Brake X5
I've worked from home for decades and owned several different models of chairs, from the high-end to the bargain basement. One thing they all seem to have in common: cheap plastic wheels. If the wheels don't break first, they roll unevenly, wear down quickly and constantly snag cables and cords up inside the plastic "shield" thing that comes down in the front. Replacing the wheels on a desk chair is an inexpensive upgrade with a big payoff. You'll extend the life of your chair and your enjoyment of it, and may even prevent damage to your hardwood or tile floors. The RockCaster 3" Office Chair Caster Wheels work great on my heavy-duty home office chair. I had first tried replacing the plastic wheels with a set of rubber-wheeled casters, but disappointingly, those kept getting stuck on the carpet beneath my desk. My desk chair is big. I weigh 220 and have wide hips, so I decided to splurge on a chair with a 25-inch wide seat. The chair itself weighs 60-lbs. Removing the old wheels and inserting the new ones was NOT the simple "pull the old ones out and push the new ones in" operation that I expected. The first time I tried to pull out a plastic wheel, the wheel detached from the stem, leaving the stem inserted. I had to grab it with a pair of pliers and wiggle and pull it out. I discovered that a side-to-side wiggle motion while pulling, and while pushing the new ones in, was what was needed on my chair. Yours may be different. The RockCaster polyurethane wheels roll smoothly and handle the carpet much better. I don't think I'll need the brake that is included on each wheel, but it's a nice extra to have, just in case. Highly recommended! ... show more

  • Nice aesthetic upgrade • Performs well
Style: Transparent with Brake X5
These are nice looking and performing casters. Each caster has its own locking mechanism, so you don’t have to go hunting for that ‘one’ caster when you’re trying to no-look lock your chair in place. The casters install easily in a matter of minutes. They’re definitely a visual upgrade to your average office chair. The wheels have smooth bearing that allow for effortless pushing around. Due to the travel of the larger wheels and the tackiness of the wheel material. The casters can stick a little bit when trying to change chair direction on carpet. Overall I’m very happy with the casters and the price point. I purchased another set for a more expensive Herman Miller chair. ... show more

  • Smooth rolling (review based on standing desk, not chair)
Style: Transparent with Brake X5
I originally ordered these as an upgrade to my standing work desk because one of the plastic caster wheels broke and kept auto-locking itself, but unfortunately, the frame itself (where the wheel attached to) was too messed up to switch them out. Basically, the metal piece inside partially detached and was bent. With a little "MacGyver" ingenuity, I was able to Frankenstein my metal desk frame to attach these wheels. It's like a night and day difference! These wheels smoothly glide across multiple surfaces without catching or tripping up (hardwood/vinyl/tile to padded carpet). I mainly use on a rug with foam mats underneath (similar to an anti-fatigue mat). I understand these are meant for computer/desk chairs, but I was unable to test them on my rolling stool because I didn't realize it had threaded wheels, so I cannot honestly review based on body weight. They somewhat remind me of the wheels on my rollerblades from 20+ years ago, both in size and material. I didn't notice any scuffing. I had no difficulty in changing direction. There were a couple times I accidentally stepped on the brake - I personally don't think it's sensitive, at least compared to the previous plastic wheel's brakes; they do stick out significantly enough that if this was used as an office chair wheel as intended, I can definitely see them being accidentally locked if you put your feet up like I do. The pro do this is that the brakes work really well! ... show more
