Unless you’re a breeder who sells checks, I can almost guarantee you will never fill this incubator to the brim. It fits 36 chicken eggs. I personally started with 12 at a time. It’s big, but sturdy, and comes with all the bells and whistles. Not only does it have presets for egg types, but you can create your own manual setting. You can adjust the temperature and humidity as you see fit. It comes with a Styrofoam box that fits snuggly around the incubator. This would be most necessary in conditions with lower temperatures or temperature fluctuations. We usually incubate right in our house. It stays a pretty consistent 68 to 70°. Because we are using it as an Educational tool for our kids, we opted not to keep the insulation around it. The Styrofoam only leaves a small window to see the eggs within. I’m sure it uses a bit more energy being uncovered, but it doesn’t seem to have a problem keeping its temperature steady in a house that also has a steady temperature. I have not tried this incubator with duck eggs, but I think it would be ideal because it’s taller than the other incubators I’ve used. Most incubators don’t leave a lot of headspace for hatching larger birds. This one seems like it could accommodate a duck or larger with no problem. If the room is very dark when you candle the eggs, you can use the built-in light. I prefer a hand held candler because I can manipulate the egg easier and keep it warm and steady in my hand. Overall, this incubator is a good value and a nice investment. Whether your homesteading,, using it for educational purposes, or breeding and selling chicks, this incubator has enough room and features to fit your needs.

I got the OBI-36 Egg Incubator for the kids' school project, and let's just say, we’re all egg-cited about it (sorry, had to)! This thing is a dream for beginners and pros alike. No assembly drama—it’s basically plug-and-play, which is great when you have 30 curious little hands eager to get cracking. The automatic egg turner does all the work, so we didn’t have to set alarms to flip them every couple of hours. Plus, the built-in egg candler has become the classroom's main attraction; the kids love checking on the little embryos growing! It handles up to 36 eggs, and with different settings for chickens, ducks, and more, it’s like the Swiss Army knife of incubators. The temperature and humidity stay stable thanks to a fan system, and the “Eggloo” insulation is a lifesaver during colder days. It’s honestly the best science project we've ever hatched!

I love the size of the incubator – it’s huge! The fact that you don’t have to assemble it is really nice. I’ve gotten some incubators that are actually difficult to figure out how to get together. It’s easy to use, which makes it fun.
