Never leave home without it. We do a lot of long camping trips. We have had times when the check engine light comes on and we are miles from no where. Most of the time it's nothing and the scanner tells you that. Lets you know if it is safe to keep traveling of call a tow. One time it was just a glow plug so no problem continuing on. It also allows you to delete the engine light so you don't have to see it all the time till you get the problem repaired.

I typically use a Bluetooth OBD device with an app, and I recently changed the battery in my car and needed to program it. The Bluetooth one doesn’t allow it, and the dealership charges a lot. Full featured OBdII reader. Powered totally off the car and has explicated and expanded DTCs. I keep one in the glovebox of all my old cars so I can read and reset codes as needed. Has saved me hundreds in diagnostic fees at the stealership. Highly recommend this model.

Purchased this for my heavy Chevy that throws the Check engine from time to time . This was cheap enough to purchase , throw in the glovebox and use when needed. Not professional use by any means , but this tool is a 1/5 of the cost of a cel diagnostics at the shop, so it’s a cheap investment . I’d highly recommend , will update in 6 months after use
