I consider myself to be an intermediate DIY person and one of my hobbies is fixing my vehicles whenever can. I already own a mid-level priced scanner but wanted one with bi-directional features and Bluetooth capability. This scanner did not disappoint. It comes in a rugged case and includes a 12+8 cable to function with the Chrysler FCA Security Gateway. It looks and feels well made. I was able to connect via WiFi to my internet and register the product easily. After the software updated, which took about five or ten minutes I tested the scanner on a 2011 Chevy Tahoe, 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo and 2007 Chevy Corvette. It automatically detected the year, make, model and VIN of each vehicle. Or you can input manually. It automatically scanned the modules and I received DTC fault codes. They were the same DTC codes that my other scanner detected. So, I was able to verify that it was accurate. I used the bi-directional capability to perform functions like door lock activation, power windows, AC fan, etc. and it was good to be able to walk around the vehicle wirelessly instead of being limited by an ODB cable. I also ran live data on each vehicle. Overall, I am impressed with the capability and features for the price.

The bidirectional bluetooth scan tool, model Ismart 800 Pro, by Shenzhen Vident Technology is made in PRC (china). The tablet I received runs a base Android 7.1.2 operating system. The tablet only supports the 2.4 Ghz band of Wifi. The tablet has 1 GB of RAM and 64 GB of onboard storage for brand profiles, and they consume about 33 GB of the storage space. The bluetooth OBD2 dongle works well in the two vehicles I tested. There is an included Chrysler/Stellantis cable that bypasses the SGW module. The 2023 vehicle read quickly, the older 2006 vehicle did take longer to do a full system scan. The display is a touchscreen and is mostly quick to respond to inputs. This is a good home scanner, but not one I would use in my shop. I did the AutoVIN thing, and I still had to choose options based on the VIN even though the scanner read it correctly. I do like the rubber corner caps on the casing, because this will get bumped around. The storage case is not as durable because it has a plastic seam hinge that will break over time. The Ismart 800 Pro does not charge via USB, but only with the suppled AC adapter with a barrel plug. I never did find the topology screen, so I do not consider this a true topology capable scanner. I think this scanner is a good value at $250. The "lifetime" updates should last as long as Vident supports this model and it's not discontinued. 4 stars UPDATE: I ordered this unit when the description stated "lifetime" updates. Now the description states only 3 years of updates are included. I cannot recommend this unit anymore. 1 star
