I was looking for a unique lamp to put in my living room. At my daughter's request, we leave it on 24/7. It doesn't put off heat. I've checked it multiple times to make sure it's not getting hot. My only complaint is, I wish you could make it dimmer. It's a little too bright on the lowest setting.

If you need a pair of very bright contemporary lamps, these are the lamps to get. Excellent design, easy to set up, perfect height, decent length of cord and easy to set brightness levels. I love everything about them except that you can't change the brightness more then three levels. Low is pretty bright and they only get brighter. Ambience lighting is not this type of light, especially for a small room. Unfortunately, since there was no lower brightness level, I had to give them away. Once they were set up in a bigger room, they looked fantastic and were perfect for lighting. Only wish I could have used them in my smaller room. I've used the lamp for about a week, and it functions exactly as described on the Amazon site. "Assembly" merely means attaching the cord and plugging it in. The three main options of light (white, "warm" and mixed) are all distinct, and the dimmer works fine. When set at 100%, it can light a small room relatively well, and when dimmed down, it can be used next to a video or TV screen. The cord is long enough (about 8 ft) for flexible placement and is thin enough that it is not overly visible. I would have preferred that the lamp be about 3-4 inches taller, but that's not the manufacturer's fault, as they clearly state that it's 16 inches high. The materials appear to be good quality, and the intertwined design is very attractive. ... show more

The design is very nice. Color is a very deep gold almost orange, which I did not like. Like someone has mentioned before, the plugin is getting hot very quickly. I am returning it for that very reason.

UPDATE: NOPE! When I went to move the lamp from where I tested it to where I thought it would live permanently, I noticed the plug was warm. Nope. Uh-uh. Major safety hazard. Impressive, in a way, for a lamp that only draws 12 W. But not in my house, under any circumstances. It's going back. --------------------------------------- Original Review This is a nice enough lamp-- bright, good color temperature, dimmer works-- basically as advertised. But there's a serious flaw people should know about: It cannot be controlled with a wall switch. No, seriously. Here's how this manifests, in order: 1) Plug into outlet that is controlled by a wall switch 2) Turn the wall switch on 3) Turn on lamp with switch embedded into cord 4) Lamp turns on, everything works. 5) Turn wall switch off 6) Lamp goes out 7) Turn wall switch back on 8) Lamp does not light up unless you also turn it on, again, from the switch embedded in the cord. This is probably due to some fancy circuitry in the lamp related to the dimmer, but it will affect any similar set up. Don't plan on using this with a motion sensor, say, or an Internet-of-Things set up. I am 99% sure those will not work either. Shame, really. I'm glad I only bought the one, because it will be fine as a lamp on my night stand. But I have two more places in the house where it would be convenient to control this with a wall switch, and now I know it won't work. ... show more
