My daughter had this on her Christmas list. I did not have much to go by as far as ideas for her so I bit the bullet and bought this. I am so glad I did. I’ll admit, I was skeptical about spending money on something I thought was junk. I thought what a waste of money. But everyone in the house actually loves this thing. It makes quality ice and the ice actually last longer than our ice cubes from our freezer. It’s easy to use. Easy to clean. The only downside is the noise. It’s pretty loud. Other than that it’s a gem.

I took a risk on this item because I have someone in the house that, due to surgery, needed Sonic-sized ice cubes that were easier to chew. I should have just stuck with buying bags of ice from Sonic. First of all, the claim that it makes <x> amount of ice in <x> amount of hours total is true, but misleading. The problem is that it makes a basket of ice at a time, and that basket is the size of your hands palmed together. Put your two hands together and make a cup like you were going to splash water on your face. That's how much ice it makes before it tells you the basket is full. Are you going to dump that basket every time it's full? How many trips to this ice machine to fill up a bag of ice? But ok; I can deal with that, because of how I'm using the ice in the first place. One person, chewing ice. Don't think this is the solution for parties of 4 or more people, because you will be disappointed. I would give it 3 stars for this. This is why the item gets 1 star: I bought this item/arrived January 19th. March 1st, it stopped producing ice and was overheating; consequently the ice inside melted. The machine gave no indication there was a malfunction; no warning light or anything. It just stopped working. Unplugged it, let it sit to cool off, plugged it in, and still the same result. Multiple attempts at this. Today is March 4th. Still a no-go. I would not recommend this item. I would not buy this item again. I'm glad those that have had success are happy with their product. I am not one of them.

We love this ice maker. It produces what I could call hospital or chik fil-a style ice. The nice small, chewable nuggets of ice. Operation is super simple. Pour in the water and turn it on. Within 3 minutes we had ice being made. After about 15 minutes of making ice you have to either move the ice around or empty the hopper. If you move the ice, that will buy you another 10 minutes before you will have to empty the hopper into a bin and put it in the freezer. Now when you freeze the ice, it all freezes together. So make sure you have a metal ice scoop, ice pick, or old knife to break it apart. Once you break it apart it will stay that way until you add freshly made ice. While it is not whisper quiet, it is not loud either. Does it make some noise...yes. Is is distracting? No. It just background noise. Overall, you cannot go wrong with this ice maker. I highly recommend!

If your reading this you’re probably trying to find a really honest review that assures you that your not throwing money away. I spend days reading and looking at price then positive and negative reviews. Buying this came down to number of reviews and price. Mostly price. I have owned a few countertop ice makes. Some major name brands with 1 year worth of service before their untimely demise. I purchased this for a present/replacement for my wife and myself. We have a 2 person 1 dog household with occasional chance of adult kids and grandchildren. Christmas Day I plugged it in and so far so good. Here’s the shorthand version of the “so fars” This is very well packed. Takes a bit of struggle to get it out of the box. Easy to set up. Plug and then fill and push buttons. Only my wife reads the instructions. I get the verbal instructions and play by play from her. You may have a bit of “grease” on your maker. I had quite a bit on mine out of the box. Easily cleaned with a small workout and bit of soap and water. Perhaps a dozen paper towels. It does make perfect ice though. Also makes plenty without taking alot of time to do it. You have to pay attention so it continues to make it and doesn’t auto shut off when basket fills. Tends to fill on one side. Bit noisy but not terrible. Can’t have tea and talk next to it but it doesn’t affect the entire house. Water is typical fill and refill just depends on how much I e your making. Comes with ice drawstring bags too. In case you want to make it look like fancy store bought ice I guess. Make sure you let it set for at least a half hour when you first unpack and set it up. Tells you to do that to let coolant settle. Have used it almost every other day without incident so far. It’s not huge so fairly easy to find a spot to set it. Could store in a cabinet if you need it out of the way. Hoping this thing lasts because it’s a real ice making machine. Will update this if it quits. Hopefully I won’t need to update.

For the first 5 months this was great- now all of the sudden it makes a horrendous noise as it’s making ice. This I was being used in my office of 3 employees so it’s not being overly used. But the noice is so bad you can’t answer the phone when it’s working. Can’t use it anymore.
