I've been taking a lysine supplement for a year, and it’s been really helpful. Lysine is an amino acid that’s supposed to help with your immune system, skin, and even make calcium work better in your body. I started taking it mainly to stop cold sores, and since I started, I’ve had fewer and less severe outbreaks. One thing to note, though—the pill is pretty large, so if you have trouble swallowing big pills, this might be an issue. On the bright side, it doesn’t have a bad taste, which is a relief. I’ve also noticed that I haven’t been getting sick as often, even when others around me were. Just make sure to stick to the recommended amount, because taking too much could upset your stomach. I haven’t had any problems, but it’s always good to be careful. Overall, I think lysine is a great supplement if you want to boost your immune system, keep your skin healthy, or prevent cold sores. Just keep in mind that the pill is big, and as always, it’s a good idea to talk to a doctor if you’re unsure about taking it. ... show more

Until I read the reviews I didn't know they were supposed to be hard to swallow. I have no trouble swallowing them at all. After about 2 weeks I'm almost completely off the prescribed medication. I do feel a slight tingling but they don't erupt to the surface.
