  • Works great so far, small batches
Style: Cotton Candy Maker
Was nervous about the many poor reviews, particularly recent ones, so put it together carefully, read the instructions, and watched some YouTube videos about cotton candy machines. After making our first set of batches, my overall take is it's a great little unit. I had no trouble getting it going, waited the full 10 minutes for it to heat up before using it, and used candy floss sugar bought separately (unit doesn't come with any). Spun up into floss in about a minute, and was relatively easy to spin out onto cones (came with the flossing sugar), or a straw / chopstick we had around. We made about 6 'batches' consisting of about a tablespoon of sugar (the max for the unit), and they got eaten very very quickly (faster than I could make them). I set it up outside because of the reviews saying the sugar got sprayed 4 ft in every direction. I did not notice any sugar spraying out of it at all for me; my next batch I will try inside. I did however, find some perhaps 25%-50% of the sugar in the batch fails to make it into the floss, and is flung as small particles onto the walls of the bowl in a ring (where the spinning disk is). I collected it afterward (the pieces snapped off easily) and tried putting a couple big pieces in to re-melt and have less waste. That turned out not to be such a good idea, as the weighting wasn't distributed evenly for the spinning disk. The solution is to crush the hard candy into little pieces first, so that it can spin out more evenly, which I'll try next time. I stopped the machine due to the odd rotation that was occurring, and let it cool. The sugar in the head all hardened inside and looked like a fairly nasty mess to clean up. Good news is it's sugar, so it dissolves in water. After cooling for 20 mins I popped the head off and ran it under hot water and dissolved out all the sugar that had hardened inside. Took a good 10-15 mins to get it all out, so I won't be in any hurry to re-create that situation. But all in all it's straightforward to clean and looks like new again. In sum, does what it's supposed to do (makes delicious cotton candy), is easy to set up, easy to use, and easy to clean. 5 stars. Just know it's small batches, you may want to make some ahead of time if you have a bunch of kids / people that want to eat it. ... show more

  • Love it!
Style: Cotton Candy Maker
I got this for my son for his birthday. We recently bought the Cotton Candy machine by CraZArt and it was not that great so when I saw this on sale (for cheaper than the CraZArt machine!!) I bought it. The look of it is amazing. It is sooo easy to use and clean-up is not so bad either! We have not tried using hard candies just yet (we used it for the first time last night) but using the cotton candy sugar (we used the Kool-Aid one that Nostalgia sells) worked beautifully. Make sure you fully follow the instructions, and you are good to go! Unfortunately, when I first bought this product I was sent a used one, but it was easy enough to return and replace. I do wish the cord was longer, but you can use an extension cord if needed. If you are considering buying this I recommend taking the chance! If I have any issues with it and when I try using hard candies, I will try to remember to edit this review. ... show more

  • Adorable and effective
Style: Chocolate Fountain
This chocolate fountain was a hit for a family birthday celebration recently. The suggestion is for 2 pounds of chocolate, however you really need 4 pounds for the fountain to flow. It’s also a little slow to start, so you may want to start it an hour or so before guests arrive.

  • Tasty, fun, easy to use but does NOT come with any flossing sugar.
Style: Cotton Candy Maker
Ordered two so each set of grandkids could have one. This felt a bit overwhelming looking over the directions, but after putting it together and getting the hang of it, we are having a ball. It’s better than buying a bag of cotton candy at the store. The difference between the pre-made and fresh is hard to beat. One of the tricks to success is to definitely let it preheat as it says in the directions. A 15 minute preheat gives even better results than the recommended 10. Even if you’re going straight from cone to cone, a minute or two preheat between batches improves the results. This does throw out a stream of melted sugar that builds up around the seam between the bottom bowl and the top bowl. It looks like a cool hard candy rainbow when you break it off. Tastes good too. We decided to break it up into crumbles and run it through the machine just as if we were using hard candies and it turned out a great, fluffy batch. Grandson calls it the “Complicated Mix” and says it’s his favorite flavor. You want to take it apart and wash it every so often as the sugar buildup begins to interfere with how easily the sugar web is able to be spun onto the cone, but we made 30 or more before that became an issue. The secret to success is to let the webbing build up for a bit before you catch it with the cone and then just spin it round and round until it’s done. You’ll want to spin it quickly enough and keep it held high enough, to keep the web from falling down onto the heating element. I give it a big 10. Easy to use, fun, easy to clean and great tasting candy. We have been using the Cotton Candy Express brand flossing sugar. NOTE THAT THIS MACHINE DOES NOT COME WITH FLOSSING SUGAR. Be sure and order some when you order the machine to prevent any disappointment. ... show more

  • Doesn’t work
Style: Cotton Candy Maker
Unfortunately, this super cute cotton candy maker doesn’t work. You can only get it to make the smallest amount of it if works at all. And it doesn’t heat correctly. The box also arrived missing the measuring spoon. Wouldn’t recommend sadly

  • Super fun family activity
Style: Cotton Candy Maker
This is not a mass production machine, but it is fun for a little treat to make with the family. It takes some practice to figure out how to use it well. We found that popping a couple of Jolly Ranchers into the hopper works really good, and has a really strong flavor. The sugars we have used are more mild and spin less 'cotton'. We have had this for over a year and we are still enjoying it! ... show more

  • Fun one or two time activity
Style: Cotton Candy Maker
For what it costs, it's ok. We used jolly ranchers. It takes a while to get enough out to make a whole ball of cotton candy. And it takes some finessing to figure out. We also had some issues with the residue stating to burn. We bought paper cones separately. Fun but won't last more than a few uses.
