Ok... Here is what I think about this ... In the end, it's not for me... but I try to be fair in my rating. PROS: -It baked scrambled egg mixture (I added a bit of cheese, green onions and about 1 tbls of 1/2 and 1/2) - NOTE: 2 eggs is two cooking cycles as it fills 7 cups - you can cook 4 mini cups or 1 big cup at a time. It did take about 11 minutes (10-12 is on the instructions) for each batch. Also - you should know the base will turn off and on several times during cooking - at first I thought it had died. -I spritzed a tiny bit of olive oil in each mini cup and they popped right out - Clean up was an easy wipe with a warm paper towel AFTER it had cooled off. - I haven't tried the custard recipe.. but maybe this would be the best of this unit - because it would make little tiny custard or cheesecake bites - again tho, for 1 or 2. CONS... - Unless you're cooking for just one, it will take a very, very long time to get breakfast done. - Cooking was a bit irregular in temp... the bite (mini cups) are about 2" in diameter and about 1/2" thick. A couple were not fully cooked inside - while others were very cooked. In my personal opinion... it takes me about 3-5 minutes to scramble some eggs for myself and another person. Sure, it's not fancy little bites... but I am in and out of the kitchen even with cleanup! So... while this is a cute little unit.. it's bit too much work (mostly in cooking time) for the payoff. Just my opinion. Why 5 stars? Because it works and I try very hard not to rate on personal opinion. ... show more

I am a Starbucks egg bites lover, and I've never been able to duplicate the soft, creamy recipe at home using my Instant Pot or oven. I wanted to give this product a try since supposedly "sous vide" is what gives that texture! Overall, this product is great. It comes with some recipes, but I found I had to tweak them a little to get the consistency and taste I was looking for, but I think I got it! I can now make them to taste almost identical to Starbucks, with that same consistency (tips at the end of this review if that's what you're looking for too). It comes with a larger silicone cup and 4 minis. The minis are SMALL...much smaller than I expected. Because of that, if you are using 4 eggs like their recipes call for, you will be making quite a few batches. But no big deal. There is no on/off switch on this. You plug it in, and it's on. The one thing I wish it had was an easier way to take the hot silicone cups out when they are finished. I don't want to leave them on the cooker while it cools off, as it will just make the eggs cook more, so I needed to pinch the tiny handles to pick them up. It's hot! Other than that, I really like this little machine. I used cooking spray in the cups as suggested, and the egg bites fell right out with ease. So far I have not used it for anything besides egg bites, but the instruction manual that comes with it gives other suggestions, like cheesecake. They would be TINY Cheesecake bites if you use the small cups! If you are looking for the consistency and taste of Starbucks egg bites, here's what I did to get it: - I TRIPLED the amount of cottage cheese suggested in their recipe book. - I didn't cook them as long as suggested. I pre-heated the machine and maybe cooked them for 5-6 minutes, instead of 10 minutes. (The machine directions say that if you pre-heat, it cuts down on your cooking time, but it doesn't say by how much, so it's a guessing game of trial and error) Overall, a great little machine that is small enough that it doesn't take up much room in my already cramped kitchen and allows me to save money by not going to Starbucks as often! ... show more

I love it. Perfect size for 2 eggs for one person. The single cup makes a perfect omelet. The 4 mini cups hold 2 eggs. Tomorrow, I'm going to try poached. It's a little water bath so you can do custard and other desserts. It lends itself to creativity. The price point is great. Easy to clean. It's nearly perfect. I have several of the Dash products and know their quality to be very good. Its a great counter top appliance for singles and small spaces. ... show more

Weight Watchers (WW) started selling a similar version of this (with only the 4 egg bite cups--not the larger cup), & I was intrigued by it. This was the only one I saw that had the larger cup as well as the small ones. It does work OK, but warning: the small cups are SMALL. I used 2 large eggs (as the recipe suggested) with only small extras (scallions--so not going to take up lots of space), and I had egg left over that I ended up frying on the stove. There are NO recipes for the larger cup included in the booklet. I just used it as a kind of poacher (as depicted in one of the photos here), putting the egg in the large bin to cook. It worked fine--but it's a bit weird to see an egg with flat sides from the shape of the cup. I'm sure that's no big deal if you put it on a breakfast sandwich. The cook time is the big disappointment. I did plug mine in ahead to preheat, but still had to wait 10-12 minutes. The bites cooked unevenly, too. One grew so high it hit the top and browned slightly, while another cup hardly puffed up at all. It's OK, but I think it's more of a gimmick item. The entire unit is really small, so it won't take up a lot of space, but it doesn't have much purpose. There's a recipe for flan and one for cheesecake, but all of the other recipes are for blended eggs. With the time it takes to cook, plus the small size of the cups, it just doesn't seem worthwhile. Get it if you have time in the morning to leisurely make breakfast and have the space. It does work--it's just not efficient. I wouldn't get it again. Now I wish I'd bought the 6-egg cooker, which I think it much more versatile (and also small in size so it doesn't take up a lot of space). Oh well... ... show more

I just got this a few hours ago and I’ve already made three dozen of these to put in the refrigerator so I can just pop one in my mouth in the morning with coffee. It is absolutely effortless and the cooking is beyond what I could’ve ever done. I’ve been making egg bites in the oven for years. It’s messy, it’s time consuming and I used muffin liners and it’s hard to get them apart. This solves all of my problems and I’m never going back. Plus, the fact that the eggs are steamed makes all the difference in taste and and texture. Clean up is a breeze. Why did I wait so long to buy this? Go get yourself one. ... show more

There are a number of reasons for 1 star. 1) the silicone cups are so small it’s hard not to overfill them and have them spill into the bottom with the steaming water. Then it’s a mess. 2) they take 10-12minutes to make. This is silly - I can make a scrambled egg with fun ingredients in MUCH less time. 3) you can’t really see when they’re getting done - followed directions and they came out WAY over cooked. 4) there is no timer function so I not only can’t see when they’re done I have to set a different t timer. 5) and so along with no timer function there is no automatic shut off. 6) made one of the recipes that came with the machine. Even using very small eggs from our hens, it made WAY too much egg batter for these small cups. I had enough left over to make a plate of scrambled eggs. WTH? It MIGHT be a good appliance if you got the large one and made enough to freeze for quick breakfasts. But definitely not for every day breakfast. BUT I have a muffin pan with pop-out silicone cups for a fraction of the cost. Those cups are not minuscule - a size more like Starbucks. And it’s super easy to make a whole batch in those at one time, and then freeze them for busy mornings. I just put a small tray of water in the oven to steam them. I am all in favor of useful appliances. But this one is just silly. What I MUCH prefer for a quick breakfast is our Hamilton Beach egg sandwich maker. Now that’s a time saver and we use it all the time. Since I tossed the box out for this small egg bite machine I’m just going to toss it in the trash. So … 1 star. ... show more
