This Cosori dehydrator is one of the best purchases I have made for saving my summer herbs and garden food. The temperature and timer controls have a low enough range for the most delicate herb and high enough for meats and jerky. One of our favorites (and most often used) is the "instant refried beans". Oh what a time saver that has been. It is quiet enough to be in a family area without negatively impacting the conversation. We have forgotten it a few times until the timer went off. The exterior stays slightly warm but not hot. There are only a couple of liquid items that we have found worked better if we rotated the trays. The vast majority of the time it is not necessary which is real plus compared to our old stackable unit. I had heard and read several reviews prior to purchasing. I did a great deal of research because this is a big expense on a smaller budget. Of all of the dehydrators I looked at, this one was the most versatile for the money. While I would have loved the larger one, I have been pleasantly surprised at how much will fit into the six tray unit. It stays in use year round here and seems to have that staying power. I purchased the Cosori food dehydrator to use for jerky, herbs and fruits. I did an initial run on some jerky and the unit worked flawlessly, and faster than I had expected (most likely because I slice the meat thin). The jerky turned out perfect and I am very happy with the unit... very nice features, easy to use and super quiet! I'm telling all of my friends! ... show more

I've always wanted a dehydrator. But I wanted to really save up the money to get a good one with no plastic. I thought I'd be paying a couple hundred bucks for a good quality one, but this one surprised me. As soon as I saw that it was stainless steel, I was interested. I read the reviews and it seemed like a good purchase. So on Prime Day, I took the deal and bought it. It arrived quickly, and I wont lie, I was bouncing with excitement. I had just harvested my apple tree and wanted to make apple rings. I chopped a bunch up, set the temp it recommended and turned it on for 8 hours. This thing made the most perfect apple rings! I was able to preserve my harvest and we ate these apples until December! I also tried to make jerky with it, using round roasts. It did not disappoint! It made the most delicious jerky I've ever had. I love jerky, but can't seem to find any at the store with good, clean ingredients, so I just wanted to make my own. So I did. They were amazing - and I even kept the fat on some slices. Let me tell you, dehydrated jerky fat is divine! This did the job in less than 6 hours, on 165 degrees. Everyone enjoyed the jerky I made and wanted more. I was so pleased. We'll continue using this thing until it dies because I love it so much! ... show more

    • Fast even dehydrating

This machine seems very well built. It dries faster than any other dehydrator I have owned. There is a lot of rack space as well. The noise level is pretty low and I had no issues with it running 15 feet from me in Direct Line of sight (or sound) while watching TV in the living room. Overall it does a very good job and I am happy with it. I do however have a few gripes. The first being that there is no drip pan to go at the bottom to catch drippings... this is an issue for me since I do mostly beef jerky that is dripping with marinade. If you are doing drier things like fruit this is a non issue. I am putting down Foil at the bottom to catch the mess. There is no guidance in the manual except to mop up the mess afterwords. But by then it is a dried sticky mess that does no clean up well at all. The second gripe is that while sturdy, the trays are not non stick AT ALL... I have even tried blasting them with PAM and still the food is still sticking to them. I see nothing to address this in the owners manual and I don't really know what to do about it. When I lay out my thinner jerky, it is nearly impossible to get it off the trays without breaking it into smaller pieces. I worry that laying out foil on every tray will not only be expensive but will effect air flow and performance. If those two issues were resolved, this would be a completely unbeatable machine. ... show more

I am really new at food dehydration. This machine has been working great. It does get warm on top and the sides but is not hot. Very quiet operation. Takes up very little space. Great for first timers!
