This product will arrive as a pile of metal with a motor. It took my husband two full days after work, a 12 pack of beer and a plethora of tools (including a torque wrench) to put this thing together. Thankfully, it comes with a very detailed instruction manual, but even so, you will have to be knowledgeable about how to build things in order to put this together. Once again… Thankfully, my husband knows how to build stuff, so he was able to do it with my help. Now that we have it running however, it works fantastic on even the largest rounds of wood. We like that you can use it in a horizontal and also a vertical position. It was worth the money the time and the effort. Pros: high quality machine, easy to use, starts with one pull, and I learned a new cuss word. Cons: Will require at least 4 trips to the store for all the things you will forget: clear gas, oil, grease, more beer, a wrench that you thought you had but can’t find it anywhere. In the end however, I have to say it was absolutely worth watching my husband go through the pain and agony of putting this sucker together. We will never have to lift a chopping maul again. Cheers! I took some pictures and made a video of the thing in action, but sadly we live in the country where Internet it is horrible and glitchy, so I can’t get my phone to download it. Perhaps I will try again someday when updated technology reaches my corner of Oregon.

Assembly required, I mean ASSEMBLY REQUIRED!. Assy description was good enough to get it together in an afternoon. No missing parts or parts that don't fit is always good. Description didn't match in a few cases, different bolts or nuts were in the package, but it looked like upgrades that did't make it into the descriptions. Over 8 gallons of hydraulic fluid is a bit overkill in my opinion, bought 2 buckets and a hand pump to fill the tank. Works good so far. No issues splitting, no bogging down even with the additional wings on the splitter to get 4 pieces per stroke.

My husband loves his new splitter and says that it is much more heavy duty than those at the local box stores we looked at. We had a few hickups with missing parts but customer service got them shipped out to us right away. Highly recommend

Great machine! Assembly was a long process so having a friend there made it fun but it was very straightforward. Splits like a beast and Northern Tool has AMAZING customer service! Don’t forget your torque wrench and very large sockets!!!

Was delivered on two pallets due to the weight 700 lbs. delivered well before Christmas was a plus. Once assembled it started right up. Only was missing two bolts but was able to go to hardware store to obtain. Delivered in great condition
