  • Strap appears to break with USE.
Style: NordicTrack RW900 Smart Rower
We purchased our rower back in October of 2020 and have used it daily. We had an issue with the first rower as it was missing a piece, and the box was extremely damaged. After assembling, the final part was the screen. When we opened the box for the screen it was apparent that during the transport it was severely shattered. Amazon did a great job of replacing the part with very little hassle. Since then we have used the rower daily and put it through its paces. Perhaps too many paces. We had read about the strap breaking in a few online reviews, and wouldn’t you know it, during a rowing with Gregory session the strap gave way and sent me leaning back. The positives: - Very minimal footprint when it comes to storage - Excellent work out machine that has helped improved cardio and shown results - iFit trainers have a wide variety of options to fit any style - Easy to maneuver into a tight space. Negatives - Strap broke - No on off button, you have to unplug after each sessions from the back - The seat isn’t the MOST comfortable, and with constant use seems to have a weird “rocking” sensation - No Bluetooth connection for other devices. - THE STRAP BROKE Other than the strap breaking this machine “was” awesome. It is very disappointing as we have owned a NordicTrack treadmill for 9 years before we sold and decided to try rowing. If the strap was still in use, and the machine could hold up through the years like previous equipment this would be a 5 star product. I will update this once I can discuss options with NordicTrack. ... show more

  • Screen Died In 1 Week
Style: NordicTrack RW900 Smart Rower
The rower and iFit are great but the screen literally died after 1 week of use. I called NordicTrack (NT) tech support and after being on the phone with them for an hour they agreed to send me a new screen free of charge. I opened up the screen to see what had happened internally and the logic board was visibly burnt out. The whole issue I have is the screen is on back order so I am probably not going to get it for 2-4 weeks which is BS as the rower is pretty much useless without this screen and the thing cost $1,600. I asked NT tech support if this was an ongoing problem and they gave me a BS answer that it isn't and that the reason it is on back order is because it is there most busiest time of the year.......I am pretty sure this is going to be an ongoing problem with this monitor. If you are looking for a rower and want a screen like this one I would look at the Hydrow or a Concept machine as I believe you can connect an external monitor to some of the Concept machines.....this is what I would do if I had to do it all over again. **UPDATE** Talked to NT tech support again this week and they told me that the new screen would take 2 or more months to receive............they blamed it on the coronavirus this time. I told them this was unacceptable and they I wanted some sort of discount off the cost of the rower or another year free of iFit. they told me they would not do this. After my call I decided to return this and opted to purchase a Concept 2 Model D paired with an iPad Air2 and Arkon Tablet Mount and I haven't been more pleased. The Concept 2 not only runs better but it has apps that you can utilize that allow the monitor (PM5) to bluetooth directly to the iPad so it functions just like RW900. The other thing I like about the Concept 2 Model D is it is built like a tank and has no frills (no electric, no touch screen controlling the entire unit, etc.) so it should last a long time unlike the RW900. ... show more

  • Machine is not the problem, the Company and Service are terrible if you have issues.
Style: NordicTrack RW900 Smart Rower
Let me preface this review by stating that my overall rating is 1 star, but the machine (except for continued problems with the console) and iFit are solid. So, that is what I am basing off of now..... I did a ton of research and after dragging my feet for several months, finally decided to buy the NordicTrack RW900. I was super excited when it showed up, but very disappointed when I plugged everything in and the console/monitor flashed on and then shut off, never to turn on again. NordicTrack (Icon Fitness) customer service sent me a wire to swap out and that didn't work, so then they decided I needed a new console and after expressing my frustration they told me they would expedite the shipping. After a week or so and no console, I called only to learn that the part was on backorder and so were all the machines. So, for 10 weeks I used the rower without the console, while waiting for the console replacement. The good thing is you don't need the console to operate the rower, the bad thing is is that I spent the extra money to have the iFit function and that was not accessible during this time. Now, once I received the replacement, the console has functioned without problems and I love it! The machine is sturdy. I am at the upper end of the "weight limit" and have had no issues. The classes on iFit have been awesome and I find myself rowing twice to 3x as long with the different workouts. I have it in my basement and so I don't pack it up and store it, but have done it a few times to clean and it is very easy to fold and move. So, despite the initial horrible experience I would have told you I highly recommend the product. However, not even 2 years later, the console has gone out again. After 10 weeks of trying to get some assistance with this and finally talking to someone slightly helpful, I was told I must pay a $159 charge to have a technician come out to "diagnose" the machine in order to receive any parts. Had my service warranty not been out, they could have done this over the phone, but since I only now have manufacturer's warranty for parts, I have to pay to have this done. If I wanted to just buy it new console it would be $600. Icon Fitness is a total piece of trash company when it comes to their machines. So, think real hard. ... show more
