My first thought was it seems thin and fragile, easily breakable. However; so far so good. We use this product daily. No mess no nothing. It's simple fits the plates well seems to be just the right size, easily washable and it gets used constantly. More importantly, the wife loves it, no more microwave explosions to clean! I think it was the chili incident that prompted me to buy this item and yes it was I that did it. I now have my microwave privileges restored as long as I use this cover. We have yet to accidentally drop it to see how it stands up to that. Other than that, I can't find a single reason not to own one of these if you own a microwave you will love this product! UPDATE: Nordic Ware says its BPA free! enough with the BPA warnings they do not apply to this product. We have used this for 7 months now without issue! Seems like the vast majority of the reviews agree this is a great product. Sure there will always be a few people who encounter some sort of issue. I stand behind my recommendation at least until I run into any issue. I doubt I will but rest assured I will tell you about it. I will buy another if I ever need to. My favorite complaint was "it wont vent if you stack a dish on top of it". Hmmm, ya think? Of course it wont vent your covering the vent hole. Lets try and remember our reviews need to be fair or they are not helpful! Let's not blame the product for our stupidity. It's 11" people. It states that clearly. Those of you who are complaining, "it's not large enough for your plates". OK never mind I give up. You can't please everyone. However; like I said nearly all of us who reviewed this product love it! I'm not trying to put people down, I'm just trying to remind everyone reviews only work if they are fair and honest! If you have issues, fine tell us. Just make sure it's the products fault and not your own stupidity. Amend your review that are unfair to the company. Lets do our best to keep this review forum helpful and not allow it to become a useless sounding board like most of the others have been reduced too. Update: 3 years and it is still like new! I'm buying my fourth Nordic Ware microwave plate cover in the last 8 years. I like the way this cover fits over plates and containers, and we use it all the time. It's large enough and tall enough to cover most dishes. It's easy to clean, either by hand or in the dishwasher, and it keeps our microwave really clean. It doesn't have a greasy feel to it like some plasticware after use. I like that it is rigid, and doesn't get hot. It is nearly transparent so I can see the food through it. It looks OK so I can keep it right on top of the microwave and don't have to hide it away in a cupboard. I'm buying a replacement because the previous one has been cracked for so long that it's become floppy. Every one of these which I've owned has cracked within the first year, from the center hole out to the edge. However, this does not impair its effectiveness, and it doesn't fall apart. I had no expectations that this thing would last forever, and I just look at it as a disposable item. It works well enough and I haven't found any that work better, so I keep coming back. I would caution cooks to keep it clean, as I once had a Nordic Ware cover apparently accumulate some food in a crack, strawberry sauce I think, and the cover started burning in the microwave. There was a nice long melted area from the center to the edge following a crack. And some pretty excited folks running around the kitchen. Overall, does its job well, it's inexpensive, but I wish they would improve the materials. ... show more

I really liked this at first, especially after seeing other versions (not Nordic Ware) in stores and noting very low quality. The plastic is nice and feels sturdy compared to the incredibly flimsy junk I have seen. I use this for cooking bacon in the microwave and it definitely keeps the microwave clean (better than my old method of paper towels on a dinner plate) but this cover seems to be warping. So far it's not too bad, but it seems the lid doesn't fit as nicely as when it was new, on the Nordic Ware microwave bacon grill plate. I've used it about 5 times, maybe, and I don't think it should be warping yet. It does have the Nordic Ware warranty, but I'll give it a few more uses to see if it's going to bug me before I return it. I will caution anyone who uses it to not put a finger through the hole on top to take the cover off the plate while the food is hot - maybe everyone else isn't as much of a dummy as I am, but I got a steam burn on my finger - it hurt! Nordic Ware says this shouldn't go in the dishwasher, and mine hasn't, so I can't figure out why it's warping. ... show more
