When detaching it doesn't take more than a minute. You can charge the ring while it's in the housing with no trouble. That's what we do. So this is 2nd one , we bought a diff brand but the screw thingie change in shape and we werent able yo unscrew . We had yo use the drill to take ring out . This Just seem sturdier.

This is a great fit for my ring doorbell gen 2. It comes with foam pieces that can give your ring a nice, snug fit in its new home. In the pictures you can see how I placed the foam. Thin pieces on the sides and bottom and thick pieces on top and back. Also if you do this and cut out a small foam piece on the back, the charging port is open for easy charging. If you are concerned about water getting in the back, then I would not cut the foam around the charging port so it stays covered. It is easy to install. The only down fall about it is the arm, it's not very long. But other than that, it works just fine. I like how there is no screw at the top to where someone can just unscrew it and steal the cam that way. My other mount had that. I bought this one because it does not block the sensor like my other one started too out of nowhere. ... show more
