Description

We are dedicated to making fish keeping easier and more enjoyable. We have extensive knowledge to help you to keep your fish happy and healthy. We not only provide quality products but also pay close attention to small details for a better fish keeping experience. Oxygenates water to promote healthier, more active fish while reducing splashing to make the return exceptionally quiet. Reduce flow for betta, shrimp, plant or other low-flow needs without compromising filtration efficiency. How to tell if flow is too strong for fish? Delicate fish (such as betta and goldfish) require a more gentle water flow, or they will show frank signs of stress. If the flow is too strong, fish will find it difficult to swim around and prefer to stay in one area or avoid a particular area. Used to lever the filter against the tank to make sure the water level in the filter is not at such an extreme angle as to cause spillage. Auto restart if power is interrupted and restored. 1. Use tweezers to gently remove the impeller; 2. Rinse the impeller; 3. Clean the impeller chamber; 4. Gently put the impeller back into place. Then try gently rotating the impeller by hand to make sure the impeller is free to rotate and prime the filter. Gently pull the intake tube to fit on the rim. Please note that it does not fit framed or frameless aquariums that are more than 0.4 inches thick. What should I do If the priming process doesn't occur? Verify that all parts are installed CORRECTLY and FIRMLY. Fill up the water in the filter case and fish tank as much as possible. Make sure the flow control valve is firmly installed and in the position of maximum flow. Does the filter tube extend? Does the water have to be filled to the top to use? Yes, it includes the additional tube to extend. It will be better to fill filter case completely with water before it starts. Otherwise, it will take some time to pump water up. (Water must at least cover the motor.) What if the filter doesn't start or makes a mechanical noise? Try to turn the impeller by hand. Check to see if something is jammed in the impeller. Rinse impeller and filter to remove blockage. Then verify free rotation and priming. Then verify the impeller is free to rotate, and the filter primes correctly. After a powerout, will this filter restart on its own? Yes, the motor will restart by itself once the power turns on. Can I use this in a turtle tank? It is not recommended for turtle tanks. Does this filter fit on a framed aquarium? Yes, you need to gently pull the intake tube to hang on your framed aquarium. The width between intake tube and housing is 0.4 in.

  • Great quality and useful product
Size: 1-5 Gallons
It’s a great filter with a top and tubes that comes off very easily for cleaning. It has a great value for being rated for up to 8 gallons for just 12 dollars. The plastic material is very high quality and as I put it in my bedroom extremely quiet once you get it running. It is a very stable filter and it definitely doesn’t need rubber or other dampening materials to stop vibrations like other filters. The plastic and the pump is visibly high quality and it quickly cleans everything well. ... show more

  • A great little HOB filter for a small tank
Size: 1-5 Gallons
Perfect for small tanks. I've purchased 2 for my two 5 gal betta tanks. They are quiet and do a great job of filtering the water. HOB filters don't take up any space in a small tank and you can add specialty media to the box, not just the included filter media.

  • Small and good product!
Size: 1-5 Gallons
Not the easiest/quickest to prime. I'd recommend replacing pre-filter. I modified the cartridge filter to use as a hold back for a custom bag filter. Very easy to clean!! Small size and limited water flow. Works well in my 4 gallon tank though.

  • Perfect nano HOB
Size: 1-5 Gallons
This will be my go to HOB for 1-5 gallon and my first choice for a 10 gallon betta set up. I have two top fin 5 gallon tanks that I bought in an emergency situation. The filters they came with were intrusive, they hung inside the tank, and were garbage at their intended function. After about 6 months of dealing with them I searched for a replacement that would fit and work. The lids that came on the top fin tanks had a cut out for the filters so I needed something that would allow the lid to fit because we have a cat. After a couple hours of research and with cost in mind I chose these. And I’m extremely happy. They are very quiet, do the job they are suppose to and look good doing it. The flow adjustment is responsive and the design of the flow knob is easily serviceable. In my opinion with weekly water changes they are perfect for heavily stocked 1-5 gallons and may even be used for something like a 10 gallon planted betta home with light flow. ... show more

  • It either works or doesn't. Gone thru 3
Size: 1-5 Gallons
I really love how quiet this filter is. And it gives just the right amount waterflow for my two and a half gallon nano tank. The first one I purchased lasted for a year. When it died, I repurchased a new one that only lasted four months. It died just after the amazon return window. I thought maybe I got a dud, so I went ahead and ordered a replacement. The replacement died after four days. I'm not sure how to feel about this filter anymore. ... show more

  • Compact and Quiet
Size: 1-5 Gallons
Bought it to replace one from PetCo, and it's a little bit smaller than that one, but I love the fact it comes apart easier for cleaning and troubleshooting. Had it in a 2.5 gal with plants and shrimp, very quiet. Hopeing to use it again when I set up the 5 gal.

  • Really quiet filter for people AND fish
Size: 1-5 Gallons
Have a UNS 45s shallow planted tank with 6 or so Medaka in it. Been looking for a filter mostly just for water circulation and oxygenation. I got a tetra whisper 4 at the recommendation of reddit and to their credit it is very quiet, I can't hear it sitting six or so feet away. However the biggest reason I didn't use a filter for a long time was because I was concerned about noise pollution causing stress in fish. Its an understudied topic specifically in aquarium fish but we do know that noise pollution in natural bodies of water does negatively impact fish in a number of different ways. So while I was very happy with how quiet the tetra whisper 4 was for me, when I put my ear ear up to the glass of the tank I could hear just how much noise it makes for the fish. Granted, I don't know if the fish care at all, but I was still looking out for a better option that was also still silent for me. Enter this filter. Even quieter from my perception compared to the tetra whisper 4, and the hang on back design means that the motor is outside of the water, and doesn't contribute nearly as much to the noise level inside the tank versus the Tetra whisper 4's submerged design. When I press my ear against my tank all I hear is a soft low hum, which I hope the fish appreciate. Anecdotally from what I've seen so far the fish are much more willing to spend extended time right up against the filter playing in the current. So if you want a quiet filter for yourself and maybe are concerned about noise pollution for your fish, consider getting this filter. Its cheap, and has a nice reservoir that if you don't want to use their filters, can fill with an alternative media like ceramic bio rings. The filter also has an adjustable flow rate which the tetra whisper 4 does not, and the intake element on this filter comes with a sponge to prevent an unlucky fish who wanders too close getting a fin ripped off. Anyway the Tetra Whisper 4 is still a quiet and a decent filter but for the money I would say this Nicrew slim filter beats it in literally every category. ... show more
