I found that this was extremely easy to install and set up. And it gives so much more information than a cheap OBII meter. I am using it on my wife's Subaru Forester. The old OBII meter I had would only read a few of the codes and they were wrong. The problem was that all the warning lights would come on at once and disable the cruise control, ABS, antiskid, and eyesight. The cheap-o meter said that the timing chain on bank 1 was out of calibration. It didn't say what caused the other faults to come up. After I installed this bluetooth OBII and got the readings, nothing about timing or ABS or antiskid. I finally figured out it was an intermittent short in the brake light switch that was causing the computer to go wack-o and replaced it. All okay now. I have left it on the car and now can read it while my wife drives down the road. Before I would have to try to read the short corded wired OBII meter under my wife's legs as she drove. ... show more

  • Buy a plug in ( corded ) OBD2 reader. Dont waste your money on this
The reader works great.... unless you plan on resetting any codes that it pulls up then you have to pay for the "pro" version which is roughly $20 a year and most of the functions that it offers cant be used unless you pay yearly or monthly for it ..... I wouldnt waste my money on this and i would buy a plug in obd2 reader instead of spending the money every month or yearly to reset codes that come up.... also if you switch from vehicle to vehicle it takes about 5-10 min to reset the settings in the app for it to register a different vehicle ... show more

  • Impressed!
Edit. There was some misunderstanding on my part and I submitted a negative review. I sincerely apologies for this. The guys at NEXPOW sent me a new product, which I am testing right now. I am impressed! This inexpensive adapter can do the same things that the very expensive adapters do. I can access the sensors that my 2004 Camry has in it's ECU without problems. I was interested in my car's fuel trims and I can see them. LTFT and STFT are giving me the data that I am looking for. Thank you, NEXPOW! The only week part is lack of a good app. I hope that the developers of the NEXPOW will create one of their own. ... show more

  • Good Hardware that needs software to make it even better
This OBD sensor is easy to use. I downloaded the Torque App, and it connected right away. My only complaint is why doesn't this company have their own app to come along with the hardware? The Torque App basically can only read the current status, but will not let you reset unless you purchase their Pro version. Overall, this sensor do what it supposed to do, but i wish the company can have its own app. ... show more

  • Functional but with a stunningly bad design flaw.
I purchased this to monitor my Tesla Model Y. It seemed to work fine but was slow to update data. I read that the Tesla uses a relatively fast CAN Bus for sending data around the car and some BTLE ODB2 monitors can't keep up. I decided to open the product and see what was going on. The Bluetooth chip is plenty fast so that isn't the problem. It also uses a very nice PIC18 microprocessor with built in CAN Bus hardware, so that's not the problem. I decided to look at the way the two chips communicate and found the issue. While both chips have the ability to talk to each other at high speed, the design uses one of the slowest methods possible to communicate between the chips. It's a shame because this product has the right parts but has a terrible layout that kneecaps its functionality. TL;DR: It could have been great but ended up being meh. ... show more

  • Don't go by the review
Beadvise that most of the reviews on here are due to seller offering $10 for a review so I wouldn't necessarily go based off the reviews you see.......Product works well just like any basic Bluetooth model. You can definitely get one with more function s for about the same price and alot less for one with the same features. Sellers discrimination is misleading. Pictures state it's 30k90 but it's actually a 25k80 chip. Contacted them about the error and never fixed it. Will be sticking with my old OBD2 plugin corded model vs this Bluetooth one due to additional charges if you need more functions with in the app ... show more

  • Easy to use, works well
This OBD2 device connected easily via bluetooth, and worked well with Torque Pro on Android. (I already owned the Pro version, so I didn't test the free version of Torque.) Unfortunately, it didn't connect with Car Scanner Pro -- which I like more than Torque, because the interface is cleaner. I can live with that, but I'm deducting a star from an otherwise 5-star device. I chose this scanner largely for ergonomics: I like that it's small, but it has an easy-to-grab "handle" for insertion and removal. On one of my vehicles, an overly large scanner would get in the way, especially if I want to use it while driving. On another of my vehicles, the OBD port is deeply recessed, so the small, flat scanners are really hard to remove. This one is the perfect "just right" size. ... show more

  • ODBII scanner / reader
I needed one of these as my cars both have throw errors. It was able to connect to and read both Subaru and Chevy codes without issue. There is a little red light looking button on the device that I have no idea what it is for, but since it doesn't detract from its core function -whatever! The instructions given in the device say to use the app 'Car Scanner', I was able to use it to clear the codes from both vehicles with this device. The only drawback with this device is that it is named the same as every other odbII reader out there. It would help if it had a unique name so I knew which device to link to and which was my old reader. ... show more
