This little item works great, but it has a small caveat if you want its full functionality. As OBDII scanners go, this one does the job at a fraction of the price of a professional scanner. It shows all the information on the screen in an easy to set up software with an intuitive menu. Easy for even the least mechanically inclined people to use. However, you'll need a separate iPhone, iPad, or Android device to install the app onto. It color codes the issues as to their importance. Green means you should be fine and it's more of a suggestion than an issue, Yellow means check it out soon or have a mechanic take a look, Red means you should probably stop driving your car and set it on fire. Just kidding. But the information is displayed fully with the OBDII codes along with the explanations as to what they are. In my case, there was a Stored Code and a few Pending Codes. The Stored Code defined what the code is, however the Pending Codes showed 'Unknown Issue'. I had to go online later to look them up. There's also an option to clear the dash lights that did not work for me. So does the scanner work? Definitely. Is it worth it? Probably not, and here's why. The caveat I mentioned? You have to purchase their Premium version at a yearly fee of $99.00 if you want to unlock the scanner's full potential. It includes; "Cost and repair estimates from the Identifix database, Unlimited calls to our FIXD Mechanic Hotline for a trusted second opinion and DIY help from our network of ASE certified mechanics, And much more! FIXD Premium is a monthly subscription that is optional and is not required for use of the sensor." After the purchase price of $37, that makes this little bugger $137 right off the bat, with an additional $99/year after that. However, they do let you try it free for one week (cancel at any time). If you're using this scanner for multiple vehicles, and you're getting paid for it, then you might find the fee not so much of an inconvenience. However, if you're like me and are only using it on your daily driver, how often do you think you're going to use it to qualify that fee? I used it this once, found the codes, and now it'll probably sit on a shelf until the next time the need arises for it. And since I'm mechanically inclined, I can resolve the issues on my own. But, again, "the subscription is optional and is not required for use of the sensor." If you want a scanner that offers more functionality with no extra costs involved then purchase one of those instead. But if you're an average Joe or Jolene and you just want to see why your car has those dash lights always on, then this little guy does the job just fine. ... show more

UPDATE: So the scanner app has had a couple of updates and I've re-tried it again on my cars. It keeps reading a fault that I had fixed. I checked the car with the other OBD scanner I have and it came up clear. Overall I absolutely still recommend this FIXD scanner, it's better than nothing and it gives good insight. It's also very user friendly. But use it with a grain of salt, or if you can in addition to another scanner. ORIGINAL: I'm starting to look at cars for my daughter and wanted some assurance about the used cars I was looking at. First let me say this was super easy to set up! And it is very user friendly, the information provided after the scan is easy to understand. I definitely prefer it over the normal OBD scanner (you can see it in the background of my picture) and it's small so it fits easily in your pocket or purse. I currently have 2 cars and tested this on both cars because I wanted to make sure the data being provided is accurate. Results: AMAZING!! For the first time ever on Amazon I wish I could give something more than 5 stars! My older car has one big issue that I am aware of but no lights or anything. This picked up on that issue and provided possible fixes and estimated costs associated with each possible repair. My second car is basically brand new, this scanner did not alert to anything (obviously because the car is brand new). I now have full confidence when shopping around that this scanner will alert me to any issues. IT GETS BETTER! This scanner also shows vehicle owner history and theft issues. Great feature! The premium side offers more awesome features. You seriously can't beat this for the price, literally saving yourself thousands of dollars. ... show more

This is my 2nd fix'd device. I love how easy it is to just plug in and run a scan to see what's wrong with your car. It let's you know what the issues are, how severe they are, the code of what's wrong and more. It also keeps the history and keeps track of when you need maintenance such as changing the oil. You get all this for free. If you wish for more features there is a charge for premium. What I get with the free version is enough for me. I gave all my kids one for Christmas. ... show more

Was trying to get this to connect to a 2002 Chevrolet Camaro SS. Was told it should connect since the vehicle is newer than 1996 and gasoline powered. I was able to connect it to another vehicle, however, I bought to specifically connect to the Camaro. I was able to connect 3 other OBD scanners to my Camaro (Autel, Innova, Foxwell), but I needed the Fixd scanner to connect to be able to complete a Carvana sale. I spent the better part of a day trying to find out through the Fixd customer service if there was a compatibility issue with that particular vehicle/engine. I was given the run around about rebooting devices, uninstalling apps, removing sensors, etc. even though I proved the device would work on other vehicles. Even after repeatedly doing all of the tasks customer service recommended, nothing had changed. Customer service instead tried to sell me on their subscription based service of Fixd Premium. There was some techinical assistance offered over the phone, but they offered no value and seemed to not understand what steps had alredy been done, even though I told them what I had done, and lacked basic troubleshooting logic. Most of the technical assistance came over email, which after about 3 emails, they ignored and refused to return any messages. There are better OBD scanners out there and if for some reason your vehicle is incompatible with this one, you will just waste your time, money and efforts. ... show more

Highly recomending the FIXD OBD2 Scanner. It was a very useful tool during the process of buying a pre-owned vehicle. Instructions for the App set up, and the actual scanning process was very simple. Everything I needed was all in one place! It gave me insights to engine code explinations, repair recommendations, option to clear engine codes, and even offered a maintenance schedule for my vehicle. The scanner is compatable with many vehicle types. I did not like the subscrioption requirement for the premium content, but it's realistic to pay htis monthly as you're car shopping & cancel the subscription at any time. ... show more

Yet another company who chooses to use manipulative psychologic sales strategies to sell you a subscription that you feel is needed to make this product “worthwhile” Although they are truthfully selling a subscription service more-so then a device that actually does everything they promise, it does come with some fairly standard functions that you’ll be able to use. However, if you vehicle does not support a reading or measurement that is available within the device’s capabilities you simply cannot use it. This is mostly frustrating because i believe the price is mostly for the app you HAVE to download to even use to even access the features of this device, and without a subscription you get left with not much functionality. So to sum it up, you risk getting your data sold from an app you have to download to even have access to the devices features, have to make the initial purchase of the device itself to even use the app, but also get forced into the mindset of needing a subscription so that you can truly use the device for whats it capable of. AND probably the most upsetting aspect about of all it is that the subscription is (as of writing this review) 12.99 monthly or 99.99 yearly, 100 DOLLARS. IF you do buy this, you must understand that it will be costly to have all features available to you. I do not like being negative in life, or try to come across as a bad person due to speaking how i feel even if it seems of poor taste or stature, so something good thar i can say about all of it is that at least you have an app to look at instead of a standalone screen part of the reader, also the feature to have measurements active within the app to look at temps, RPM, or whatever you choose to display. ... show more

No subscription needed. Read this! This thing saved me hundreds of dollars while I was on a road trip. When setting up the app it try’s to trick you into thinking you must have the subscription, you don’t. Just look for the hidden “X” on the screen. My truck went into limp mode while on a road trip and I was able to reset the computer on the side of the road without getting a tow, hotel, or seeing a mechanic. I estimate all included it saved me close to $1,000 on that one reset alone. I was able to scan, and reset within minutes and off on my way. Every car and road trip should have one! ... show more
