I had an 18 year old Rinnai tankless water heater and replaced it with this model. It is quite an upgrade, going from 82% efficiency to 98% efficiency. I also love the speed of hot water getting to remote faucets compared to the old model. It was taller than the previous model, so I needed to do some plumbing, but it is so much easier to work with copper now that you can use hydraulic fittings instead of sweating pipes. I also needed to shorten the propane line but was able to do that by turning off the propane at the tank and bleeding the line. Took one day to install, a few hours of which involved getting the old tank off. Setup was simple and the tank does all the rest automagically. It runs extremely quiet and everyone is happy in our eight person household. Great product! ... show more

It’s awesome! Saved 360 kw hours the first moth after making the switch and even with the ability to run a long shower we barely moved the needle for natural gas and water consumption! Wish we’d done this years ago! 1000% better economy saving that the p.o.s. AO smith heat pump hybrid water heaters ( yes 2 ) that both failed after 18 months! ... show more

Bought the CX199iN and installed it with a professional plumber in a new build home. Started having issues from the start with not producing hot water. We tried a few thing and I ended up calling Rinnai help line. What a joke that was. Ran through so checks with online tech and got to where you needed a manometer and a multimeter to continue. We should not have to check their merchandise on new equipment. Send your Rannai tech out to diagnose your issue. Oh and I had to pay my propane contractor $89 to come verify I had the correct pressure to the equipment. No other gas appliances had problems so it was definitely the Rannai. Got the equipment they requested to finish the diagnosing over the phone called again and was on hold for over an hour. This is ridiculous. I have a Noritz in another property for 5 years now and have had zero issues with it. ... show more

this had been the worst water heater we have ever owned my 25-year-old Rheem worked better than this and I'm sorry we upgraded to this machine. We have endless cold water not hot water. The company that installed it has been here at less 6 times in the last few years as we continue to complain about running out of hot water mid shower to not having hot water at all. They insist there is nothing wrong with it. The company from which we purchased was every reputable, but the owner retired and sold it to another company. I believe they just don't want to replace it under the Companies previous owner's warranty. Buyer beware ...... ... show more
