We live in the southwest. It's gets in triple- digits too often in summer. We keep the can outside our bedroom window and we're going to move it if it smells, but with our windows open, it never stinks. That said, after 2 months, the carbon filter had to be changed bc it states to smell when you lift the lid. We changed the filter and now it's back to never smelling. Looks cute and makes it a cinch to keep our yard tidy. Very easy to use and operate with your foot. The inner can has a handle to lift in and out - we keep a garbage can liner in it and do not recommend using it without it unless you use doggie poop bags to pick up poop. Even in very windy conditions and heavy rain, the can hasn't moved, blown over, or filled out any water. Very sturdy. Excellent quality.     • Not Bad Step Can

This is a decent step can that is a really good size for its intended use. The main can is made of metal, but the metal is quite thin. I was thinking it would be a thicker metal, making the can heavier and less prone to tipping over, but it's really light. The lid just sits on itself, there isn't a lip or rim or something that the lid really rests in to sort of secure it. The lid does sort of close over the lip of the inner plastic bin, but it doesn't really "seal". I would have preferred a heavier metal can with a lid that used its weight to close more securely, but overall it's not a bad can. We have a small patio setup for our dog to do her business and this can is perfect for that. I had tried using a small 2 gallon plastic Lowes paint bucket but it just smelled awful after a while. This can keeps the odors down with the carbon filters. It’s expensive but it’s the tidy and best option I’ve seen to use outdoors for us. We like that the lid opens with the foot pedal but it is definitely NOT "odor proof" even with two filters. We have two labs and pickup in a bag each time they go. We can go one week before needing to empty.

UPDATE: A month or two ago, the latch that connects the lid to the cab broke, irreparably. Loved this can otherwise, but breaking after less than a year of use is unacceptable. I’m now using a small metal trash can (Behren’s galvanized steel) with a lid you have to lift off - not as convenient as stepping on lift it up, but unbreakable :) Original post: This is the dog poop container I've been looking for - it is large enough to accommodate poop from 2x dogs for a FULL week, so I can put it straight into the garbage can on trash day. It seals very securely, which has eliminated the flies who were buzzing around my old can, and when the wind blows it doesn't waft a scent of poop! Highly recommend :D ... show more

    • Don’t “Waste” Your Money!!!

This is a GREAT concept if it actually didn’t cause more problems than the waste itself!!! It looks identical to the picture of the product on the website. It goes great with any decor. It’s small enough to not to “stand out” and be an “eye sore”, but big enough to hold a good amount of waste. The bags fit it perfectly. I was SO excited to have something I could empty out every few days to a week vs. having to use a single bag for each time the dog has to go out! It kept things nice and tidy! I was thrilled with it! Until today! First the scented bags, and filters, just don’t seem to eliminate the smell! Every time you open the lid, the odor is horrific! Then, the foot pedal is so small that you have to use the side of your foot to open the can. It doesn’t seem sturdy at all! Having said this, the BIGGEST PROBLEM of all??? I’ve only used the can about 4 days. I went to open the can this morning to put the waste in it, and it’s COVERED in maggots!!! It’s SO gross that I don’t even want to touch it to put it out by the trash on the curb! I’d rather use a bad for each time the dog goes out! It’s bad enough to deal with the waste as it is, but to deal with MAGGOTS, is even worse!!! Don’t waste your money! I definitely DO NOT recommend this product!!! ... show more

    • Disappointed, but then remedied

No control of odor. Also. Foot pedal a little flimsy at times not opening. The bucket handle and waste bag design not functional. Either handle up with poop on it or handle down which means you have to manually pull down trash bag to release handle which would negate the whole point of handle. Biggest issue ~ maggot infestation during the summer. Just ew I feel bad about this negative review - but keeping consumer market honest. UPDATE: I was contacted recently about my disappointment with this product. Nevink offered several solutions to suit my dissatisfaction - refund, replacement, etc. I was equally impressed with their knowledge regarding their product - they offered guidance, tips, and gave thought to how it might work better and what problems I was having. More impressive is that the transaction was several months ago which tells me, they are dedicated to reading through any and all feedback and offering solutions - basically standing by their brand.
