    • No configuration manual available
The device I received connected readily to my PC and read many bar codes successfully. It would not read every kind of bar code advertised by the seller, unfortunately, nor every kind of bar code required for my application. Devices of this class (from other companies) commonly are accompanied by a printed manual describing hundreds of configuration options. Enabling a configuration option is as simple as scanning any of the special bar codes printed in the manual. This device did not come with such a manual. It did come with a note card inviting me to look on the Web for a complete manual. I looked online but I couldn't even find a product page on the manufacturer's web site matching this device. No manuals bore this model number. I tried downloading manuals for other bar code scanners from the same manufacturer -- and a couple such configuration options worked on my device -- but most did not. E-mails to tech support revealed there was NO MANUAL AVAILABLE for this model at all. To their credit, tech support offered to research any configuration options I might need and send associated instructions, one option at a time. There was a delay of 1 business day answering each e-mail, perhaps related to China's time zone. How inefficient! What if I didn't know the name of the configuration option my application required? ... show more

I got this barcode scanner for a business that I am currently trying to set up and requires barcodes to be scanned for tracking of items. The packaging of the product was very well done and protected well. The Barcode scanner is a standing desk model and can scan from one location and bringing barcodes in front of it. The field of view for the barcode scanner is very wide. The barcode scanner is simple to use if you are based in the US. It simply plugs into a USB port and works immediately. If you are using an international keyboard, there are instructions that allow you to configure it for your keyboard and needs. I tested this item with multiple different barcode options as was advertised and it worked perfectly. I was able to scan different barcodes into Excel and was able to do it in rapid succession with ease. It can also scan barcodes into different programs depending on the uses you have. The barcode scanner makes a loud noise when a barcode has been scanned and on top of it, there is a light, which lights up blue as well that confirms that it has scanned. The website for the products, netumscan.com, has all the resources such as drivers and instruction manuals available making it possible to try and solve issues when necessary. In addition, you can contact them through their website to troubleshoot any problems that are there. There are a few issues with this product I will note. One is that there is no on/off switch or button. When this item is plugged into USB port of your computer, it will always be on. So to turn it off, you have to unplug it at the end of the day or turn off the computer. Now this might not be an issue with US keyboard configurations as it is plug and play, I'm not sure if it would have any impact on international keyboards. I believe it won't, but it is something to note. Another thing is that, it does struggle to scan barcodes from digital devices such as a computer monitor, when attempting it took a few tries and eventually worked, but it is another thing to note. I will say that there was no issue with scanning a barcode from a smartphone. Lastly, I will say that the paper instructions that come with the product are a little primitive in terms of trying to set up more advanced things or could be with international keyboards. The online manuals found on their website are much more thorough and answer questions that I had about the product better and I do wish that those instructions were given with the product instead of an abridged version that was given. Overall, after using it for almost a month now, I have had success in using the product. Its sturdy design and simplicity make it easy to use. It is able to scan many different types of barcodes and can be used with different types of platforms, making it versatile for whatever work someone may use with it. This barcode scanner does the job for me. Helps me scan UPCs hands-free, which is nice. I don't do a lot of barcode scanning, especially of different types, but overall it does what I need it to.

I have previously owned other scanners that would give me different sorts of problems, then i ordered this scanner and realized This one is quite affordable and upon setting it up i also realized It isvery easy to set up (just plugged it in and my laptop did the rest ).
