It features a quick- release drive head that lets you switch sockets easily and has spring-loaded ball bearings, which help the sockets stay in place. I discovered these ratchets thanks to the YouTube channel Project Farm. He was testing 1/2 in Drive ratchets and this Neiko was one of the 13 or so tested. While the Nieko was not the best overall or the best in any single test, this value ratchet often finished top 5 and even top 3 in many key tests; competing with and in some tests beating name brand ratchets that were double, triple even quadruple the price. I have used them on my vehicle and they have performed great. I’ve had good luck with some Neiko sockets on the farm and was looking for a reasonably priced 1/2 inch extendable ratchet. This ratchet made it thru its first year of moderately heavy use on the farm. The ability to extend the ratchet is a very useful option. I don’t expect it to hold up as well as a snap on or craftsman, but for the price it has performed very well. We’ve tried some Harbor freight ratchets and they won’t last a year with farm duty- have a couple right now that the mechanisms lock up or slip. ... show more

my first Neiko ratchet, I needed an upgrade to throwing a cheater bar on my 3/8ths husky and this is a great substitute. Besides the thicker head (from drive to release), its teardrop shape is actually pretty small. I trust fully metal ratchets over soft handled ones for longevity, and this ratchet has nice knurling at the handle. Make sure to open this up and grease it, as shown mine came bone dry and had a very loud ratcheting mechanism. Two T10s and one T8 or 9 for the on off switch (my t9 wouldn’t sit fully so a t8 worked fine) to take this apart. Once greased it’s much more quieter, and actuates much more smoothly! Besides being an absolute fingerprint magnet like most chrome is, this ratchet feels really nice. Sockets lock on very nicely but there is noticeably more socket slack/play while held on to this ratchets drive. My old husky ratchet tends to hold on sockets quite tightly and usually has minimal to no play depending on the sockets used. For a little over $25 on sale for Black Friday, I can’t complain ... show more
