I am a hobbyist mechanic and use my tools daily. These ratches were a great addition to my toolbox. They have multiple lengths, drive sizes, and clear markings. So far, they have held up to my use/abuse and are amazing good value. These are my first gearwrench tools and I am impressed with their durability and ease of use and comfort. I’ve been eyeballing the 90t set for the year and seen this 84t on sale and at a cheaper price . The set is great and is similar to the 90t. I prefer non soft grip handle and I like that the archers are longer than the traditional ones . Which gives you more leverage and access to work on something further away . A few times this has saved me from using an extension . I highly commend . You won’t find a better value than this as its flex bead and locking . The locking part is key! ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Love these ratchets! I went with the 84 tooth because I liked the way they look and if I'm not mistaken I think they're actually a touch longer than the 90 tooth ratchets, but I could be wrong about that. I only gave it four stars however because while the 1/4in and the 3/8in ratchets were smooth as butter out of the box, the 1/2in ratchet was not as smooth as it could be. However if you disassemble the ratcheting mechanism and snip just a tiny bit of the length off of the small spring that applies the pressure to the pawl and reassemble it smooths right out. Basically the spring is pushing the paw into the gear and anvil with too much pressure causing the ratcheting action to not be nice and smooth. Do this to the spring and it makes the ratchet so much smoother it's perfect and feels nice like the other two making all three smooth and pleasurable. I have a ratchet addiction if you can't tell lol. This modification just makes the 84 tooth mechanism feels so much finer. The next thing I did was add some color accent to the gear wrench logo and with these modifications this three ratchet set would be 6 stars. ... show more

4/21/22 I mainly purchased this for the 1/2" ratchet, but (at the time) this set was about the same price and I heard the 84 tooth ratchets are pretty reliable. Also, the other ratchets are nice, and good quality as well. In between hardware store and tool truck prices, but worth what you spend on them. I'm a forklift mechanic, and I can tell you they are durable for sure. I accidentally left my 1/2" ratchet underneath the truck and ran it over. No damage, not even a scratch. My oil filter claw on the other hand, obliterated! All in all a good ratchet set, highly recommend from diy to professional. Update 7/12/24: All but the 1/2" ratchet are still original and going strong. The 1/2" ended up snapping the anvil off, but to be fair it lasted quited sometime with some questionable torque for a 1/2" ratchet. Got a rebuild kit for it, super easy and not too expensive, and now back to the daily use and abuse. ... show more
