This is a toy version of a metal detector, but it was loads of fun. It seemed very sensitive - it was picking up metal in places where I don't think there could've possibly been any, but seeing the delight on everyone's face as the prospect of "treasure' came up was exciting. It's important to know that you need a 9 Volt battery to operate this. I wasn't aware of that, and although I keep many sizes of batteries on hand, that wasn't in my stash and required a trip to the store. The small trowel that comes with this isn't sturdy enough for digging. It would be best to provide your own tools for unearthing coins and other treasure. This was kind of a one time toy - it hasn't been used since its initial outing, so it is on the pricey side considering the times you would be able to play with this practically.

I got this because I have a big yard that borders a busy street with lots of sidewalk traffic. The telescopic shaft screw wouldn't stay tight, so it kept flopping around. When it did indicate something, I would dig and find nothing then there would be no sound, when I went back over the area I dug up. I know this is geared towards children, but I wanted to try a cheaper version before I spent money on a real metal detector. Don't waste your money.

This is a fun toy. The quality is that of a toy but still great for kids. I'm not sure how accurate it is on finding items. But none the less it is still great for treasure seeking kids. Easy to use and handle
