Very good light. I have it on my 55 gal cichlids tank. I was weary of having to use an app on my phone to control it but it was very easy to install the app and easy to use . It has so much more settings of color and brightness than other cheaper lights. It even has various cloud cover settings and cool storm settings with lightening. My aquarium had algae overgrowth because of my old light putting out the wrong wavelengths and became reset after a power outage. This light was in its original box when it was shipped, not real happy about that part. The box was badly damaged and I had really hoped that the light wasn't damaged. So far it doesn't seem to be. And I absolutely love it. Not only it's easy because there's an app that is very easy to use and set up, although I am messing with the advanced features and that's user error on figuring that out. I don't like the lightning setting in theory it's a cute idea but in reality it just looks like it's going to shock my fish. I have a 55 gallon and I am able to finally get grass on the bottom and everything is flourishing. On top of that my algae is not continuing to grow! It gives a very nice beautiful light! It's really sleek and about half the width of my last one. It just looks so good on the tank and in the tank. ... show more

This is a two in one review , One on how the light it was delivered and two reviewing the light itself. 1- whoever shipped this item from Amazon did a very bad job not bothering to package the light ! Light delivered to my porch all banged up , torn open on side with the adapter almost partially hanging from the side it almost fell out of the box when picked up ! This was an open invitation for package thieves to come and just grab it from door step ! This is not acceptable for an item that’s considered one of the expensive ones out there ! 2- Now to the light itself which is Amazing overall , pretty slim solid metal body wasn’t expecting to be this small which actually works great for my 55 gall top fin tank , was able to cut out pieces of the top hood that came with tank and let it sit on the Fluval led and still use the lights that came with the lid, I opted to swap them out with marineland led blue night lights and the space worked well with this light slim design little real estate used which is good , if your tank is 47 to 48 inch long this will sit right on top of the tank’s rim which means the expanding brackets are practically useless as shown in pictures , unless you get the shorter smaller led then I can see the brackets working better for you , but that didn’t bother me as I wanted light from edge to edge and this fits the bill .. Ok the led is super bright the white colors to say the least , love I am able to adjust the brightness however I like , timer is a big plus haven’t played with it as am still setting up my tank ( another review will follow when all is up and running ) . This light comes with one row of Leds wish it came with two rows instead of one for this price point. Connecting the light to the app was pretty easy I’ve used my iPhone/s to download the app. You can download the app on multiple devices to control the light however one device can be connected to the light via Bluetooth for it to function ,like I have two phones with the app installed on them , if I want i to use phone1 to control the light then The Bluetooth on phone2 has to be disabled or disconnect and vice versa ... The app itself could use little upgrades somewhat looks like the actual physical remote that came with the older models but it’s a touch screen control. Would like to see an option where I can slide my finger on a much bigger range of color for a more customizable look ! Overall the light does what it’s meant for it to do , Room for the improvement and maybe a lower price point . Still a happy camper with the light would recommend BUT AMAZON YOU NEED TO PACKAGE THIS LIGHT PERIOD. Thanks ... show more

Best lights for the techies out there! Out of all the light systems I've tried, these are probably the most convenient and configurable of them all. I recently purchased a Fluval Flux tank. After playing seeing all the things you can do with the included light system, I made the plunge and replaced all five of my aquarium lights with Fluval lights. Pro's: *Easy/Highly configurable. You can set your lights and color any way you like or use the built-in presets. *Super bright! I've had to tweak my lights often to avoid algae growth, but my plants are going crazy. *The warranty is three years on their lights! Cons's: *The iPhone app is slightly quirky and could use some work. It's just not as polished as other smart lighting apps out there. I find certain features like export custom settings confusing. Not to mention you can only export to lights of the same type. If you have Grown Lights and Aquasky lights, you cannot import-export profiles across light types even if you want a similar effect on both. *I have an iPhone and Ipad. The lights seem to work best when you only use one device to configure them. I've had issues, particularly when I rename a light, the second device will lose connection with it, and you have to re-add the light back to the device. *You cannot group lights or configure similar lights together. I have two lights in my Fluval Flex tank. I have configured each one separately. It would be nice to group them and control them both at the same time. The app treats each light individually. *You only the ability to create one routine per light. It would be nice if you could configure different patterns per day of the week. For example, I have a tank in my bedroom and have the lights come on at 6:30 am on weekdays. I sleep in on the weekends and would prefer the lights to come on around 8 am. I've installed separate smart plugs (Kasa), that turn on the power to the units at 8 am on the weekends. *No integration with Alexa or other Smart light systems. My entire house runs on Smarthings; it would be awesome to update the app to integrate with 3rd party applications. I have two tanks in my living room; it would be awesome if I could tell Alexa to turn off the lights when I want to watch a movie. Depending on the Fluval model, I have to pull out the app or hit the button light itself. *Occasionally, the lights will ignore the routines. I've run into a few instances where the lights should be off based on my configuraiton, but are still on. When I open the app and connect to the light, it suddenly re-syncs and continues where the routine should be. I realize I have lots of Cons, but they are mostly issues with the app itself. Fluval has the basics right but could enhance the app a bit. The light units themselves are great, and the ability to program them on a smart app makes them best in class for the average hobbyist. ... show more
