The product arrived with some damage to the box but it was well packed. The item is a painted item, I knew that. They had painted over damaged product which should have been culled if they had any quality control at all. The board that would face the front had a huge dent in it and had been painted over. I did not realize, as I’m sure it was not listed anything other than “Mr. Kate”, that it is in fact an Ameriwood product. In my experience with Ameriwood their items are poor quality. Someone had commented in the reviews that the feet were broken on the item when it arrived so I looked at them first. They are a metal foot welded to a base that has four screw holes for proper assembly. However, the item was not welded correctly and to be honest without scraping the paint off to get a good look at it, it may not even be weld and could be glue. Just all around disappointing front top to tail and now I’m stuck trying to box this trash back up to get a refund. Don’t buy! Nightmare! ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Really, the full review is in the video as far as impressions. Just based on my wife and my initial thoughts I would have given this 4 stars, but thinking more on the assembly process and my thoughts on overall quality I’m going with 3 stars. First, I found that having someone help with assembly is essential. This in itself isn’t a bad thing, I’ve put together plenty of flatpack furniture that required more than one person. But, I feel that the entire assembly process could have been easier and gone faster if the manufacturer had put in pilot holes for all the back panel screws. There are only two pilot holes, but three different panel pieces, and a whole lot of screws. So, this step really slowed us down and really frustrated us as it became tedious after a while. I found that some smaller steps in the instructions were pooled together with bigger assembly steps, so if you’re not looking really carefully you might miss them, like I did, and have to go back. Speaking of instructions, be aware that there are two instruction booklets, do not be me and just dive in. Read through both, it will save you some time and headaches. For example, you have to disassemble the fireplace to put the crystals in, which I didn’t realize until I had put the fireplace in. This is entirely on me. Now, for my quality impressions and gripes. Like I mentioned earlier, the lack of pilot holes for installing the back panels was a huge slowdown. I don’t understand why there aren’t pilot holes for all the screws, to me it just seems like a corner cutting choice. Some of the holes for the shelf brackets are just a tad too big so the shelf ends up being a bit loose. Also, one of the legs came in already broken, which was a huge disappointment, especially because we didn’t know until we put the cabinet together. Overall, we like the look, and the fireplace is really cool. But, and this really is my wife’s and my opinion, we just thought the assembly process was a bit more difficult than need be, we were surprised by the gold colored legs as in the product picture they look black (but, it’s not a deal breaker), and we were really disappointed by the broken leg. In the end, if the legs had come in all fine and the back panels had been easier to install I would have happily given this 4 stars. ... show more

This entertainment center took a while to build but once built it is very sturdy. The entertainment center is very stylish and looks good in my room. There is plenty of room to hold my TV and it holds up well to the weight of it. I like that there is plenty of storage in the cabinet part and I'm able to use the heater to keep me warm at night. really love the colors that emanate from the fireplace to give my room a relaxing ambiance. ... show more
