  • Mr. Heater Little Buddy: A Portable and Powerful Heating Companion
Style: Heater
This Mr. Heater Little Buddy has become my go-to for staying warm in various situations. Whether I'm camping, working in the garage, or dealing with a power outage, this little heater provides reliable and efficient warmth. What I liked: Portable and Compact: It's incredibly lightweight and easy to carry around. The compact size makes it easy to store and transport. Powerful Heat Output: Despite its small size, this heater packs a punch. The 3800 BTU output is enough to warm up a small space quickly. Indoor Safe: The oxygen depletion sensor (ODS) and accidental tip-over safety shut-off provide peace of mind when using it indoors. Easy to Use: Simply connect a 1lb propane cylinder, turn the knob, and push the igniter button. It's that easy! Efficient Fuel Consumption: It runs for a decent amount of time on a single propane cylinder. Minor Considerations: Open Flame: As with any propane heater, it's important to use it in a well-ventilated area and keep it away from flammable materials. Not for Large Spaces: This heater is designed for small spaces. It's not ideal for heating large rooms. Overall: The Mr. Heater Little Buddy is a fantastic portable heater that's perfect for a variety of situations. It's compact, powerful, and easy to use. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a reliable and portable heating solution. ... show more

  • Negative reviews can be misleading...please read (sorry it's long!)
Style: Heater
UPDATE: After ending up unexpectedly in Rawlins, WY in April (19 degrees overnight!), I put this heater to the test! It absolutely saved us from freezing! Through no fault of the product, it only ran for 6 hours or so (when the canister ran out of fuel), but it kept us comfortable through the night. I ABSOLUTELY recommend this heater! (Original post) Full disclosure: I haven't had the chance to use this heater in the field (van camper) yet, but will be using it over the next few weeks (thus only 4 stars for now). I'm writing this review anyway because there seems to be much confusion around this product. Issue #1: Multiple reviews I read indicated this item does not work with Coleman propane cannisters. Because of this, I ordered Bernzomatic cannisters from Amazon - at double the price! - only to learn they won't arrive in time for my upcoming trip after all. So, not one to be defeated, I headed to my local Walmart and grabbed a 4-pack of the Coleman cannisters to try. And guess what? I am able to use them just fine! They fit into the heater base easily, and it does not feel unstable at all. There is a soft plastic "boot" on the Coleman cannister - presumably to allow it to stand on its own in other applications - but it can be removed if you're having issues getting the cannister into the Buddy base. As noted, the Coleman are significantly less expensive than other brands, so knowing this is a workable option will hopefully help you. Issue #2: When I opened my box today and took the pieces out, I heard what sounded like a ball/bearing rolling around in the heater unit: oh, no! I immediately assumed the worst, came to Amazon to ask the question, and read many answers where users experienced the same thing. Most responses indicated returning the heater immediately, with no indication that it was ever tested. ONE user explained that the noise is the safety mechanism that turns the unit off if tipped: well that gave me hope! I finally looked at the instructions (which I hadn't even done yet, cuz you know, who needs instructions?) and there's a page stapled to the front of the instruction booklet that specifically explains this! Again, I haven't field-tested the unit yet, but did try it here at the house, and it definitely started producing heat pretty quickly - so it seems to be working. I will try to upload some pics and will update my review after traveling with the heater. BTW, I ordered a "used - very good" version to save some money, and while the original box was somewhat damaged, the parts inside were in perfect condition! As of now, I would definitely recommend this heater! Thanks for reading this far - hope it was helpful! ... show more

  • great little heater
Style: Heater
Easy to light was the selling factor for me. Propane tanks with the plastic on the bottoms doesn't seem to work well, too tight. I use Coleman with the metal bottoms or I just remove the plastic from them. I make the base more stable by adding some 1/8 inch stretch cords to hold the tank steady. You can see how on Youtube/Snowys Outdoors channel. I believe in Australia it comes with stretch cords. I refill my tanks at about $.75 each. It keeps my small office nice and warm. I can't say anything negative about this product. It works great for me. ... show more

  • Good Heater But..
Style: Heater
Works very well I really like it but, for whatever reason you get this cheap plastic light weight stand. Why couldn't they make a stand out of metal ? This heater is top heavy and not all propane cannisters are the same. Some cannister do not fit well in this stand and on more than one accassion the heater has toppled over thank god for the tip over cut-off switch. ... show more

  • nice output
Style: Heater
I tried to post a video of the unit but these file outputs just won't let me....however, it would show how the flame is a nice blue constant pilot light that when it ignites the ceramic is nice and even. The heat output comfortably works very nice for a 4 person tent. I use it also in my basement and while the basement part is 600 sq ft I keep it near my couch as I watch TV and it keeps me warm. The length of burn is around 5 hrs. and I use a re-fillable tank that I fill using a 20lb tank, I get more use this way rather than buy individual coleman tanks. Being in the 20's, it keeps the tent nice and warm. ... show more

  • Good value, excellent performance.
Style: Heater
My garage is my art studio. I back out the car, set up my easel and get to work using the daylight with the door open. As the temps dip into the 40s and 50s (Fahrenheit), this heater sits on the floor nearby and keeps me warm at a VERY reasonable operating cost. I've found propane canisters on sale for under $4.00 each. Our 1200 watt electric heater cost a LOT more to operate, based on previous experience. I close the door in the evening, as I break down my setup and clean up - Our (approx.) 600 square foot garage actually got warm inside! The easy operation and safety features are sensibly designed, and it seems to be well-made and reliable. I recommend this product for heating a small open (or enclosed) space. ... show more
