Wasn't sure how much I'd like having a heater on a "tri-pod" but I am sold! Even though the stand isn't made of metal, it appears to be firm and reliable. I like that it is an indoor/ outdoor heater. Great for nights out on the deck in the fall (we don't leave it outside), and in the garage in winter. It heats up extremely quickly, so don't hang around messing with height adjustments after you turn it on... Almost turned myself into kojak LoL! The heat is well distributed and instant. Silent and effective. Putting it all together was a bit fun for 1, but I got it. The ability to adjust both height and stance is invaluable to me as space is kind of limited in the garage. I use it to provide mobile heat in my shop. I can move it to where ever I am working and it provides the warm radiant heat almost instantly. It was easy to put together and the tripod is sturdy. I also liked the on/off switch on this model. Some other models don't have that and you have to unplug the unit to turn it off which creates an electrical arc every time you unplug it unless you have a switched outlet. ... show more

Worked great when it was working. Switch died after one month of approx two hours per day use. Heater was under an awning outdoors and produced a comfortable heat when it worked. Love the adjustable stand and wide base.

    • Almost instant heat, easy on & off, no fumes.

We’re smokers (I know, ick) & live in northern Michigan. We bought this to use on the rear screened in porch (we don’t smoke in our house - again, ick). But, that aside, this heater works perfectly for what we needed. It’s sturdy, was easily put together, provides plenty of warmth for what we need, and it does so rather quickly which is also what we were looking for. Much easier and quicker than a propane unit and no fumes. Perfect. Update: we used this heater all winter last season with no problems and it functioned exactly as we hoped it would. Toasty warm? Well, no. But it sure did cut the chill down to a manageable level on those 20 degree nights. Mind you it was outdoors on a screened porch and we were able to sit comfortably without hat and gloves. This year, after about a month of use, the on/off switch on this unit ceased to work, similar to other reports I see here. I sent customer support an email and not only did they immediately reply, but they sent me 2 replacement switches which I received within a week. This is not a big deal breaker. It’s a simple switch and extremely easy to swap out. You can find them here on Amazon for like 10 dollars for a pack of 6. They’re not expensive, usually means prone to breakage, so buy a couple - it’s no big deal. Heater itself still works great! Downgrading review. Heater still “works” great - but it eats switches like no body’s business. After 2 years and 3 multi packs of switches I finally just gutted out that box on the rear of the heater and hard wired the entire operation. I know, no warranty, but I’m well beyond that now. I put it on a remote control plug/extension cord (Amazon). Works much better. The switches you can find that fit this thing are all cheap, lousy crap from china. ... show more

    • Understand the Limits (Heat Output)

If you order this, you need to understand limits of heat output. In a typical residential circuit of 15-amps, this is the most power you can have without tripping your circuit breaker. If it doesn't provide enough heat, you need a 240-V hard-wired, dedicated circuit, installed by licensed electrician. Or switch to a different fuel source (e.g. propane). I live in Florida. My patio is covered and open on two-sides. I wanted the heater to extend the "outside" season and to sit outside comfortably in December and January. Typical lows of 40's F to 50's F. This heater meets this need, just barely. The heater is directional, and there is room for perhaps three (3) people to sit in front of it without being too cozy. Understand the limits of what this heater can do. So far, as long as I ask it to operate within those limits, it works for me. Now then, as to durability and length of service, I will have to update later. ... show more
