When I did the comparison, first of all, I ruled out those without bacterial packaging but can only dehydrate and dry. That can't produce compost really. Then among the other composting machines, I chose Moreborn, which has a big capacity in 12L and has a great design appearance. I absolutely love my Moreborn. The apartment I live in does not provide composting services, which has always made me feel guilty when I throw more and more food waste. Moreborn is so nice and convenient, it's actually a great helper to my kitchen. I was originally worried about the odor because usually composting would cause odor, but actually I didn't smell any odor during the use which is really impressive. I believe this is all because of the activated carbon and filter system. Using Moreborn, my apartment smells fresher now cuz I no longer have to throw fruits or veges leftovers, coffee grounds, or food scraps into the trash can which would definitely cause odor. Moreborn's composting effect is great and fast. Following the quick guide, I activated the microbe pack and completed the composting in 2 days. I spread the organic compost in my garden, and feed my plants. It's so good to have fresh and nutrient compost for them, I noticed it's really helpful in their growth. If you have a wait-and-see attitude towards real composting machines, try Moreborn!! I promise you won't be disappointed. In addition, there is a small section of Braille on its lid opening button, which my daughter discovered. It's also very surprising and thoughtful. If I want to make a suggestion, I hope it can have voice interaction function on next generation, which can be automatic but without manual operation. That would be perfect!

The media could not be loaded. 12L capacity is good for us. Everyday we have to throw the food waste out. Now we can use the fertilizer to feed my flowers and vegetables. This is very good for me.

The Moreborn Automated Electric Composter by Neakasa is a relatively straightforward device to help handle kitchen waste. At a 12L volume, it is a very nice intermediate in regards to size and cost compared to other electric composters on the market, meaning that you won't need to empty it as often and you won't need to spend as much for anything larger than the standard kitchen/tabletop unit. The provided bacterial microbes do seem to digest and breakdown food waste fed to the device allowing for a more complete composting compared to equipment that only churns and dries the material. So far this composter does seem to support the bacterial culture and will allow the culture to continue working on the next batch of food waste so long as it isn't completely removed, just as the manual indicates. Though I reason that eventually a new culture of bacteria will be required, but that is to be expected. Regarding sound, the device is completely silent if it is not actively composting by churning, performing humidity control or manually set to deodorize. When active, these operations will be easily discernable but not overwhelming and as pet owners (2 x dogs, puppy and elderly) the noise doesn't stress them out. As for odor, when the composter is closed there is no odor even when actively churning and dehumidifying. When opening the top hatch to place more food waste inside, the odor is definitely present, suggesting that the bacteria are active, and tolerance to it will vary per individual and the material fed to the culture. The deodorizing function does help with lessening the strength of the stench when opening the top hatch but has not shown to always remove it. We did experience some issues experimenting/stress testing the device with the type of material that can be fed to it. Some food waste may require processing (ex. cutting into small pieces or draining of liquids) to avoid straining and potential damaging the machine. Paper, cardboard of any kind or fibrous material such as napkins and paper towels will only jam the blades on the device by clogging the gaps between the blades and the rotating shaft. We have been able to feed tissues without problems and technically toilet paper would also work but we stopped adding any of those after the first couple of jams. As for bioplastics, they would need to be processed by cutting them into smaller pieces but they didn't seem to breakdown as readily and will jam the blades if not processed. An easy way to know if jamming will occur is if there is excessive squeaking when the blades are churning the material and the device will alarm while emitting a red light if a problem occurs. In summary, anything that is hard, fibrous or isn't food waste should be placed in the device along with a couple of other items clearly covered in the manual. Overall I'd recommend this device at the time of writing this review. Just be sure to verify the type of material being fed to it. So far none of the compost it generated has done any harm to my plants and I made sure to distribute it evenly to avoid oversaturating a given area with nutrients to the point they become detrimental to the plant's health.

I am about to learn how to use a composter. My aunt has a big back yard so she compost wastes naturally. But we are living in a HOA community and having this composter makes our composting possible and fun. Just open up the box and it’s like another good quality appliance , easily fit next to my counter . Size is bigger than I expected but easy to use , with quick start manual and other necessary information. Will have to start to use it and hopefully to see the result soon! highly recommend this Composter, it keeps the home clan by transferring the food waste into fertilizer. the instruction is clear, operation is simple and convenient to use. the active carbon filter system can effectively eliminate odor.

The media could not be loaded. As a gardening enthusiast in Texas, the Neakasa Electric Composter has really changed my life. It’s got a unique design, a large capacity to handle a lot of waste, and although there was a slight odor at first, I got used to it quickly. The machine is durable, and the warranty is one year, which makes me feel at ease. I think this product is really worth it.

This seemed like a great idea and machine. We are returning it for several reasons. (I followed all directions exactly when it was received): 1) It makes a lot of unusual noises when new foods are introduced (as directed) and seemed to run 24/7 the first week. 2) The too bright white lights on the bottom while it's running its cycle. 3) The constant (quiet and louder) noise was annoying 4) I started to notice my clean home didn't smell good when I came in from outdoors, then I could smell it all the time. It is coming from the machine. I ran the deodorizer several times and the "leaked" smell is still present. My husband how doesn't even have the best sense of smell can smell it. Sad it didn't work out.
