The media could not be loaded. OK, this is not a full-sized gas chainsaw for cutting down big trees, but it is a great little one that is right at home cutting off branches and smaller trees. It has plenty of power for dead and green wood up to 4-6, maybe 8, inches thick. It zips right through 2 or 3-inch branches, and I cut one greenwood piece that was over 4 inches in diameter. Just be sure to cut in the direction of the pull of gravity, or the chain gets stuck from being pinched, like I did in my posted video. I should have cut from the top of it down; then, there would have been no problem. For vertical trees, just push on the tree above the cut so it won't pinch the blade/chain. If you want to tackle something bigger, that needs to have a notch cut first, etc. I would get a gas-powered chainsaw. Use this little saw for what it was intended for, and I think you'll like it. I made 10 or 15 cuts in wood that was between 2 and 4 inches thick using one battery, and it was still going strong. It comes in a handy plastic suitcase style case and has two Li-Ion batteries and a charger. There is a brush to clean it with a little oil dropper for lubrication; you will need to supply the oil. A little screwdriver and three brand new replacement blades/chains> It is a great little kit for cutting down saplings and small trees or doing some heavy pruning. It is light and nimble and very easy to use. It doesn't kick back, and the chain adjuster is easily accessible and easy to use, as is replacing the chain. It is a great, complete kit for the price. This is an outstanding little Dewalt battery powered chainsaw package that frankly, I can't understand why it took manufacturers so long to popularize and develop. These types of little chainsaws are so handy for the do it yourselfer, from either cutting lumber or cutting tree branches, that it's probably becoming indispensable to the average homeowner with a decent size yard. Since so many of the other reviews are already focusing on function and ability, I want to focus on the package contents and what you get and how it works. This package includes an abundance of items such as: brushless motor that cuts at 36 ft per second (no load speed), automatic lubrication system with fill window (no need to sit there pumping a little handle with your finger which can get tiresome), manual chain tightener (check and adjust after every few uses), battery level display, 2 - 6-inch chains, 2 - 8-inch chains, 1 - 6-inch guide bar and 1- 8-inch guide bar, 1oil bottle (cute but really unnecessary), a pair of goggles, a pair of white utility gloves (they won't do much against a chainsaw, but they're a nice touch nonetheless) and a small cleaning brush. Disassembling the chainsaw to replace the 6" bar with an 8 inch bar is very painless and easy. simply loosen the chain tightening knob and pull it off and the cover housing that goes over the chain bar pulls off easily (please see the pictures attached). To install the 8-in bar and chain simply preassemble them and slide them over there guide shaft and align with the existing gear sprocket. Reassemble it with the chain bar cover and the tensioning knob. Very quick and very easy. The chain drive gear seems to be made out of steel, although on the inside I don't know if there's a nylon gearing mechanism or plastic gearing mechanism that's attached to the drive motor. If there is, these parts which are usually installed on cheaper quality tools, work but under heavy usage don't last as long as metal gearing. what I like about the chainsaw is the two knobs working unison to adjust the chain tightness. The lower knob adjusts the tightness to where you want it, and the upper knob locks it down. If the upper knob keeps loosening, you may want to try a 1/4" or 3/8" lock washer which may help it from coming loose. The replacement chain sizes for both the 6" and 8" chains are listed vaguely on the packages. But after measuring them, I can confirm the following: the chains have a 1/4" pitch with a .043 gauge (typical size) not the .050 gauge as stated on the package. Use this information as you wish, but that is the actual physical sizes of the chains if you wish to get replacements. In addition to all this, the chainsaw functions beautifully and is great for its intended purpose. if you know it's limited ability and use this as a general purpose light duty cutting tool, it should last you for years. ... show more

Seems like a well made little tool and I found it to be user friendly. You put some chain oil in it, check the tension of the chain, slap on a battery, and you’re good to go! I like that there are bars of two different lengths. It makes the saw more versatile. Just a couple of inches longer can make a big difference when it comes to cutting limbs easily. Changing the bars is simple and only takes a few moments. It’s small, but I found it would readily do what I wanted, mostly with one hand (though I think two hands is always safer with any kind of power saw). I trimmed a piece of vine and took a small slice off of an old stump. The saw cut through quickly with only a minimal pressure. It’s great the saw comes with extra chains. Hopefully this means I won’t have to look for parts anytime soon. And I like that safety glasses and gloves were included with the set. Any chain saw can sling chips or slip from your hands. Safety gear is always a great idea. A well put together tool that will do all you would expect from a tool of this nature and this size. I feel it is well designed and user friendly. I recommend it! Don’t be complacent about safety because a tool is small. Wear protective gear. Think before you cut. And be sure of your footing when you use any kind of power saw.
