  • Great for cutting branches as small as 0.5" and up to 5.5" thick.
Model: DW-28
It is great for cutting small branches quickly (3" or less for harder wood; 4" for softer wood). Don't believe the 12" claim. A family of beavers could cut through a 12" log faster than this, lol. If you set your expectations for "6 inches or less," you will be happy. That is what I did. It looks cheap because it is cheap. I never expected it to do much more than 6" so I am happy. I bought it primarily to use as a hedge trimmer for some bushes that turned into small trees (due to lack of maintenance) with 1"-2" branches all over the place that were too thick for a hedge trimmer to cut. This thing tore through all the big branches which were up to 4" and I got my bushes back. Battery life appears to be good, but I don't have a frame of reference for comparison. Weight and balance are good when using a 6-cell, 6.0Ah battery. The cheap plastic cuts down on weight, making it very nimble and ergonomic for small spaces such as cutting behind something, or cutting something not directly in front of you. I've only used it a few times since I bought it for $55.99 about 6 weeks ago in July 2025. The instructions are useless. Fortunately there is nothing unique about this chainsaw, so you can just google a video. I recommend trying the knobs and figuring out how they work BEFORE adding oil to it. You can use vegetable oil (temporarily) if you don't have real chainsaw oil according to the manufacturer. I didn't have any chainsaw oil so I just added it to the chain manually using the small empty oil bottle they include. I did NOT put vegetable oil in the reservoir because I don't trust that it won't damage the auto-oiler. I have not tried the auto-oiler mechanism yet.... It is a super simple design and pretty intuitive to put together and use. It cuts through <2" like butter. 3"-4" is a little harder. ... show more

  • Compact and Powerful
Model: DW-28
It is lightweight and easy to use. It cuts well and is great for trimming branches and small wood pieces. The battery life is decent for regular use. A good value for the price.

  • Buyers Beware
Model: DW-28
The chain was way too big and wouldn't cut properly. I returned it before the window and the seller tried to say I didn't return it in time and actually recharged me. Buyers beware. Its junk and the seller isn't reputable.

  • Awesome saw!
Model: DW-28
Best bang for the buck. I cut trails for dirtbikes with this saw. I got it for limbing some branches the were in the trail. By the end of the day i was clearing 14 inch trees from the trails. The battery life was great too. I bought some metric files and a few extra chains. So far ive used if for a couple of months and im impressed. The only down side ive found is the chain loosens. Its so easy to tighten, its almost not a bother. ... show more

  • Pleasantly surprised
Model: DW-28
Needed this for a small job and figured for the price and the ability to use the yellow batteries, why not. Unfortunately the bar tensioner did not work out of the box, it was clearly missing a washer or a spring to engage the very shallow gear. Luckily I had some O rings to shim it up to make contact. NOW it works just fine. As with anything made in a place with dirt floors, you save some cash if you can fix some basic flaws. This one is a winner for small jobs against the grain. If you want to cut with the grain it jumps and just doesn't have the rigidity. Go slow, add oil, and use the biggest battery you have. Should last many summers. ... show more

  • Exceeded ALL My Expectations!!!
Model: DW-28
The media could not be loaded. This little saw far exceeded my expectations! We have over 100 trees on our property, so a reliable chainsaw is a must for spring cleaning/pruning. I also have several bad disks in my back, so using a heavy gas chainsaw is no longer an option for me. I already have a Dewalt DCPS620 8" 20v pole saw and was looking at the Dewalt DCCS621 12" chainsaw to go with it. This saw is more compact and lighter (less than 10 pounds with battery) than the Dewalt, and it's less than half the price (with coupon). It's also much more powerful than its size/weight would suggest. I was still pondering my opinions when I got a call from my nephew. He had a medium-large oak tree (~30ft) that needed to be cut down ASAP (HOA issue), and he didn't have the money to pay a professional tree service to do it. The final decision was based on delivery time, and this chainsaw was available overnight. With the Dewalt pole saw, this chainsaw, and my nephew doing the heavy lifting, we got the job done in about 8 hours. This chainsaw did the vast majority of the work cutting the tree into manageable chunks. We ended up with just over a full cord of firewood from that one tree, and the chain's teeth remained sharp throughout. Overall, I'm extremely happy with this chainsaw! It does go through batteries quickly when cutting thicker/harder wood, so make sure to have spares charged and readily available. The high power draw when under load can heat up cheap off-brand batteries, so I'd recommend using original Dewalt batteries as much as possible for the heavy jobs... ... show more

  • Started smoking
Model: MWQ-28
Used my Milwaukee M18 battery to cut tree limbs. After about 10 minutes it started smoking near the trigger. Ordered another on to try again. Hoping the next one works okay because it’s a good little saw with plenty of power.

  • Plastic construction, not durable
Model: DW-28
All plastic except bar. Safety Brake broke off using first day for bench/limb cutting. Works okay but not durable.
