Bought this for the little jobs around the yard and wound up using it all over the place. It has become my go to chainsaw for all but the big jobs. I have had an electric chainsaw for years. it has served me well, but when it comes to small jobs, it has been a handheld branch pruner. With this device i trimmed an entire side of the my house (with 6 rather overgrown trees) in just about 45 mins. It is quick, light weight, and the batteries last a good long time. use one, charge the other if you have a lot of stuff to cut. It came assembled, with an extra chain, two 2 amp hr batteries - charged by the way - and a simple charger (that may not work as the wall plug lights, but the battery does not and the battery does not seem to charge), a screw driver to adjust chain tension and a tool to install the new chain. the chain that came with it was nice and sharp and right out of the box it was cutting away at the overgrown branches. It cuts very clean (sharp chain) and fast. The largest branch I cut was about 3 inches in diameter and this went through it lick butter... It would have taken me at least twice as long with the pruner and I would have not been able to do 3 inch branches. overall this is a great little saw. small, agile, and easy to use. well worth the money i highly recommend. I chose this mini chain saw because the battery can be replaced by a Makita brand that is readily available. Many of the mini saws are do not offer replacement batteries. As we all know, batteries can take only so many charges and in time they wear out. If the battery is not replaceable, the tool is useless without a battery. I have not tried this saw for saw other than putting the battery on it to make sure it works. It does work and the batteries came fully charged. It includes a small bottle that could be for oil, but this is not mentioned in the user instructions. So, I don't know whether it requires oil or not. Some users spray the blades with WD40 and others haven't used any oil at all. So, who knows?? On the plus side, the batteries are replaceable with Makita batteries and the 6" chains are easy to find. My husband has a huge gas powered chain saw that, to be honest, I would be afraid to use. I am 75 and like doing outdoor work, so this little chain saw is perfect for me. It's light weight and easy to handle with one hand with the battery attached. Having two batteries makes it easy to have a charged battery available when the first is depleted. Tools are supplied to tighten the chain if needed. At this point, I don't have any negatives to offer for this saw. I have always wanted a chainsaw but was always intimidated by them because of the weight and they just seemed so dangerous, but this chainsaw is awesome! After I cut my first branch, I was in love with it. I was going around the yard just looking for stuff to cut down. This saw has good qualities and bad qualities. Pros - 1. It cuts branches like butter. 2. It is really lightweight. 3. The battery charges really fast. 4. It came with its own carrying case. 5. It's small enough to fit into tight spaces. 6. It can cut thick branches. Cons - 1. The battery will die out if you are cutting a lot. 2. The chain will also get loose if you are cutting a lot of branches, so check it periodically to make sure it is still tight. 3. It's hard to push the battery into the slot. After cutting down so much, this is worth every penny. This is definitely worth it!!

When I purchased this saw, I had pretty low expectations, and figured I would end up returning it. But wow! This is a little workhorse that really gets the job done! It runs surprisingly long on one battery, depending on usage, of course. Using two batteries, I was able to work an hour and a half with very heavy usage. It’s great for cutting back limbs of big shrubs rather than using clippers. It’s also very good for cutting down nuisance saplings - it can handle pretty large diameter trees. A word of caution: be sure to use gloves every single time. This device is so convenient it’s tempting to just pick it up and use it for a few minutes without gloves. On two occasions, I was working too quickly (it’s so easy to do with this convenient saw) and accidentally brushed my hand against the saw. I was very fortunate to have on gloves, or it could’ve been ugly. If you want to use this for several hours or throughout the day with heavy usage, I definitely really recommend investing in additional batteries. A great buy and a great value.
