    • I own two other detectors, this one beats them for nearly any scenario.
I bought this as a step up from my Garrett Ace 300 and Nokta Simplex+. The Simplex+ is okay, but I like it because it is 100% water proof and inexpensive, the Ace 300 does pretty good...it finds stuff. This is another level above both though. I took it out and found quite a few more coins than I normally do with either of the other detectors and the batteries were only about 1/3 drained after about 6 hours. It is light weight and work very well. Australian consumer protection laws make for a very good quality and warranty, do yourself a favor and buy one! ... show more

I've been using this detector for 2 months now and I'm completely happy with it. I bought the Pro Pack which came with 2 coils(8" & 12"), Bluetooth Headphones, a rain cover for the brain, and a velcro wrist strap. It has MultiIQ, which allows the detector to scan multiple frequencies simultaniously; 5, 10, 15, 20 & 40kHz! It also has a pinpointer feature to narrow the location of your targets. You can also discriminate out things that you want to avoid hearing. There are so many features that you won't find on other detectors at this price.     • Excellent backup machine!
I used this as a backup machine for my equinox 800 because of the similarity in target ID numbers. It obviously doesn’t go as deep as the 800, but it gets the job done. Pros: -Portable - light - easy to use Cons: -NOT waterproof

    • Excellent noise cancelling
This detector has obviously been designed to compete with the intro level detectors like the Garrett Ace machines. I have owned an Ace 250 for years. I found the Vanquish 540 to run quiter and ID targets more accurately and deeper than my 250. The Noise cancelling on the 540 is amazing. It runs very quiet on salt water beaches. I have to turn the sensitivity way down on my 250 to make it usable in salty wet sand. I have found coins as deep as 8 inches in wet beach sand with the 540. I can't get close to that with my 250. The only thing that would be nice to have on the 540 is the ability to use the individual single frequencies like I can on my Equinox. ... show more

    • Try before you buy.
This was our second Vanquish metal detector. The first one is just what I wanted, works well, never a complaint from me. This Vanquish, I could tell the minute I opened up the box, was not workable. There was no power after trying 3 sets of batteries. Still, like the product. May try again later.
