Old guy here The only downside for me about this amazing detector is that I didn't have it 60 years ago (back then hardly saw any other detectorists) ......Ok so this review isn't a review per say but a praise of the FANTASTIC AI algorithm of its multifrequency and incredible intuitive pod as well as the detector design. So, here's my opinion for what's it worth, all other detectors are behind the eight ball to the Minelab's tech and trying to catch up. TRUE MULTIFREQUENCY, nothing out there even compares to it! These Minelab series are stunning in their power to deep seek (a quarter at 11to 12" down is pretty skull pounding amazing) and find the good stuff.....I've only had this extremely light weight detector less than a month, don't really know how to program it very well but Minelab quick start makes that NOBRAINER easy in minutes. Lots of coins and lots of rings found on pounded beaches. Every signal is an adventure unto itself. Definitely it will grip you to see what the signal frequency number is....Yes there expensive but if you can pull it off, don't short yourself with second best, get the best out there and have adventures and fun. Don't worry about paying for it will pay for itself, as Amazon store card has some great ways to get it and try it with no out of pocket. Oh and the best settings for this detector is to turn it on.

This thing is really amazing . there's a learning curve but once you figure it out its really immpressive. Now having said that, I got it at a great price, when I started running it it didn't take long to figure out I was in a little over my head. if you don't metal detect a lot and just want to want to turn on and go I would look elsewhere. It can be set up to do that , but its way more advanced then that. You can buy a much cheaper machine if you want to do that. I would recomend it the enthusiast who wants to metal detect a lot and will use it's advanced features.

Great Metal detector. I purchased when they dropped the price a few months ago. If you have a lower priced metal detector and are looking for a good upgrade, this is the machine. Just as good as the equinox 800 for me since I won't be gold prospecting. The equinox 600 performs very well compared to my old minelab go find 60 detector. It has better range, much more reliability, is waterproof, and has amazing discrimination due to multi HQ frequencies. It can also identify targets much more specifically than cheaper detectors. You will be able to tell the difference between whether you are digging a nickel, penny, or quarter. Of course, you will still dig a lot of trash, but this is the case with all metal detectors. This is a great metal detector if you can afford it. It has many features that I haven't even explored yet. You can use it right out of the box though nevertheless. You won't be disappointed if you're looking for an upgrade. Don't forget to get a good pinpointer too! Good luck.

For the longest time I hunted with a Bounty Hunter Quick Draw Pro, which was great. I'm not a detector snob, so I don't need all the fancy bells and whistles. Before the Bounty Hunter I was using a Harbor freight detector. Only reason I upgrade to this one was because I do a lot of hunting on the beach in salt water. Single frequency Bounty Hunters struggle a lot there. I've also owned another Minelab detector.... the GoFind 66. That thing is a toy. I didn't like it at all. so I was worried that Minelab was all hype. I'd heard they were among the best, but I was not impressed with that GoFind. This equinox, however? Simply the best. I've gone out on hunts with guys rocking Garret AT Pro's and picked up targets theirs completely missed. Not too crazy about the rechargable battery, but that's just me. I don't like having to remember to charge the device before a hunt. Much more convenient to just throw in some batteries and go. But oh well. I can't recommend this detector enough. If I had to pick a down side it's that it's pretty susceptible to electromagnetic interference. It chatters a lot when you are hunting near power lines. Not sure that's entirely a negative, though. Just means the device is extra sensitive.... and that's a good thing..

Couldn't afford the Equinox 800, so chose the 600. It certainly has less options than the 800, but overall I'm satisfied with its features. There were supposed to be two Velcro straps to secure the wire to the shaft, but only one was included in the box. And while I know that I can access the manual online, in would have been nice to have a copy included in the box as well.

It's not a one touch button and go machine. Though quick, you should adjust your settings for every time you go out even if back to same place as before. Utilizing these settings is what makes this beast so awesome. Easy but some learning curve coming from a one touch and go machine. On other hand, its prob more capable with all its features than most detectorist with experience will ever truly use too so I feel this a great buy for anybody truly interested in metal detecting. The Nox series has really changed the game with the multi-freq scanning. This machine is absolutely amazing. So powerful and accurate. I'm really impressed with performance! I feel this machine Nox 600 gets overlooked far too often and we have to have the 800 right? If your regularly searching for small pure gold flakes or sub gram nuggets in gold mining country then sure get the Nox 800 or better yet one of their gold machines. If your detecting a wide range of more common things like relics, coins. jewelry, yes gold jewelry, homestead sites, parks, blah blah blah then the 600 will likely do more than your going to use. Have fun.
