I used 2x 9Amp 3rd party batteries and everything went great. 1 for cutting the tree, cleaning up the small bows and the still had some power left. I used the 2nd battery for cutting up the main trunk into small parts. I think using multiple 9Amps is cheaper and less risk for over heating.

After reading information and other reviews I decided to buy this chainsaw, tool only, since I already had M18 batteries. After getting it, I made a couple test cuts on a 4x4. I could only get a maximum of two cuts with a 5 Ah battery. Tried a different batter with same result. These batteries last a long time in my other Milwaukee tools. I considered buying a 12 Ah battery for the chainsaw, but spending another $250 for one battery along with $350 for the saw just didn’t make sense. Returning this item. ... show more
