  • BUY IT!!!
This thing is AWESOME!!! I use it all the time. Surprisingly long battery life and strength. Best $$$ I've spent in a while!

  • Perfect Tool for the Fool
If an expert on power tools is a 5, a knowledgeable person is a 4, followed by a novice, a relatively dumb person, and a danged fool, this review is being written by a 1. This particular tool is built for the fools in life, because its fixable. If you have any experience with power tools at all, you know that no matter who makes the tool, it's going to fall apart and break down, depending on what you demand of it, or how long you own it. This particular tool is so fixable even a fool can do it. The chain will fall off, and when it does, Milwaukee provides the tool. I'll bet I have this tool fixed in under two minutes. Other than that, if you're doing some longer jobs, bring oil with you. It burns through oil quick, and you don't want that blade cutting without oil. Also, I'm guessing only a fool wouldn't know that the battery indicator light doesn't work, unless its engaged. I didn't think the indicator light worked at first, but when I engaged the motor, it worked! Finally, one huge piece of advice I will pass along is don't "dirt it". Cut at an angle that keeps it out of the dirt. Keep that chain clean and oiled up. I have the battery life at about an hour of constant usage. Not great, but it will get all those small jobs done. One other note for those buying this for the fool they love, you have to buy everything separately. The battery, the battery charger, and the oil are all sold separately. The positives outweigh the negatives of this otherwise fantastic product. I watched videos on this product, so I knew all this going in. If you do too, you'll likely consider this a five-star product. ... show more

  • Goes well beyond a pruning saw
This saw is the real deal. I have used it far outside of its recommended limitations in the instruction manual. I have used this saw to cut down small trees and large limbs much larger than three inches in diameter. I have also used it to buck smaller tree trunks, that needed to be cut apart. It bites into the wood and cuts aggressively and is easy to hold. The battery life is great. I've used 2, 4, and 6 amp batteries. They all lasted well beyond what I expected. The chain does not throw that easily, but when it does, it's very easy to put back on the bar. I cut down, trimmed, and chopped a massive amount of trees and limbs - hardwoods, shrubs, and bamboo -over a three day period and the blade is just getting dull. This was one of my best tool purchases. ... show more

  • It’s powerful and fast. A bit of an investment initially.
I do tree pruning and removal every day. I had low expectations and honestly just wanted something comparable to my silky handsaw. No matter how good a handsaw is it still requires you to put in effort. This m12 hatchet is not only effortless but also well made and has almost as much power as a small gas saw. It feels so much easier on me to reach for this saw, check battery and go to work. Versus lifting a gas saw and then trying to start it. They’re good but after some time they develop fuel issues that lead to no start/shutting off randomly. You will need 4.0 battery or more to really get some decent run time but 2.0 will work for a very limited time. After a week of use I’m buying 2 of the m12 5.0 high output batteries. Should get me through most of the day or about 5 or 6 pruning jobs cutting small limbs and 3in to 4in limbs. The cons i can think of with this saw is that there’s no intelligent system that detects kickback. Not that it’s much of an issue with this saw but I think if you’re not going to have a chain brake at least have some kind of safety that gets triggered by inertia. Also be careful or just don’t cut with the top of the bar. The saw bar is just not long enough to perform well that way. It will jump around, leave a bad cut and increase kickback chances. Remember this thing cut through wood, it will hurt you badly. Keep your distance. ... show more

  • This thing rips!
Holy awesome. I didn’t expect much. Only reason I went M12 is because I already have the 3/8 impact gun, which is also awesome. I keep this kit in my Jeep or off road trailer. Firstly, I dare you not to want to dual wield. Yeah, yeah, I know. 2 hands, 1 chainsaw, equals safety, and that’s true but I’d be lying if I wouldn’t want 2 of these bad boys in the event of a zombie apocalypse. It’s perfect for camping firewood. The batteries last longer then I though they wood. (See what I did there?) And it’s great for the occasional down tree on the trail. ... show more

  • Problem removing the battery is a big pain in the butt!
I like using this on small trees around the property; it makes getting stuff done a lot easier than using my pruner saw. HOWEVER, I have a heck of a time removing the battery from the chainsaw, which should be no big deal, right? I have to struggle with it for 10 minutes! I discovered that many others have said the same thing; So why doesn't Milwaukee fix this?????? I decided to buy some small files and actually file down the 2 little tabs that hold the battery in place. I can't take credit for this idea, but someone on You Tube did this. I don't want to overfile them so am doing just a little at a time and will keep filing until it becomes easy. Not buying any more Milwaukee until they fix this! ... show more
