  • Great addition to the house and my m18 line
This string trimmer is awesome, comes with a 9.0 HD battery and a spool that's already wound (check it though because it might be tangled up, mine was) but no knock on the product itself. Works great, weed wicked my whole backyard instead of using a mower on the turtle setting and it did a fantastic job, edged the lawn too with the string supplied. There are plenty of attachments that you can buy for this tool as well, I can't wait to buy the edger attachment down the road.I only used 1 battery bar doing my backyard for the first "mow" of the year! I recommend this for anyone who's looking to go gasless on their lawn care tools. Goes to speed instantly, no gas, no oil, no pull string, no hassle. The most effortless lawn care power tool I've ever used. (I used to cut grass for work as well and am most familiar with Stihl string trimmers prior to owning this one) ... show more

  • Strong, powerful trimmer.
Very powerful for what I have to do. I do 2 yards at a time and it holds up well. Charging is quick. I can’t ask for anything more.

  • Great string trimmer
Milwaukee makes a great product and this is no acception. However the "kit" does not come with a charger or a battery. He advised much more expense involved aquiring these after. However the trimmer is a great product. Light weight, compact, well balanced and powerful

  • You get what you pay for.
Battery life with 8.0ah battery has not been an issue. I get the weed whacking done in 20 or 30 minutes, never dropped the battery below half charge. I use it with the hedge trimmer attachment also, again, no issues with battery life. The cutting power is the best I've seen. The only ding I can give it is the price, but if the tool holds up for several years, then the price isn't too bad. Just comparing to Stihl and Echo, the Milwaukee is more expensive than both. The attachments cost more too....but from what I've seen, the M18 is actually nicer and more heavy duty feeling than the competition. I guess just look at what the landscape crews are using in a few years ...I've already seen some guys using the Milwaukee with the trimmer and edger. ... show more

  • Works
I have the ego trimmer the power load as well as the older manuel wind. So for me I like things about both the milwalkee trimer and the ego. Ok I used the milwalkee in my over grown weed filled yard. I killed 2 batteries and was using the rabbit mode. They were the 6.0 ho so I changed to the 8.0 ho battery omg it made a huge difference. The power of this weed eater is, great I find it as powerful as my old craftsman gas power trimmer. I love how much lighter this trimmer is over the gas. I am 5 feet 4 inch tall women that is 54 years old. The battery is super easy to use. The machine was a little bit difficult to figure out we're to place the handle. Also the guard is adjustable from like 12 inch to 14 inch I don't remember. I put it on with the 4 bolts. Ok now what I don't really like is the button to run Machine I am right handed but I use my trimmer left handed. I use my left hand to hold down the power button. When I use my right hand to hold the button down it makes my hand cramp. The ego has a " thumb" trigger which I find much more comfortable. I found out quickly if you don't wind the cutting string super tight it will not advance correctly. I found it a little bit of a challenge to find the sweet spot to hit for string advance. I have only used trimmer a few times so not sure how the " head" will hold up. Read reviews that the head wore out easily. But not sure how the reviews were advancing the string. Instructions say do not hit on " hard" surface or rocks. I was able to cut through my blackberry bushes and crab grass very easily with the more powerful battery. It is st argentine grass in the south. This grass is hell in my opinion. This trimmer is nice in the fact that I can interchange other parts onto the main shift. My husband is buying me the limb trimmer and the rototiller attachment in the near future. This is one of the main reasons for me to switch to the milwalkee trimmer. The other reason is my ego batteries are crap. The ego batteries die quickly charge slow. And if you leave the ego battery on charger it starts to " discharge " I am super lazy and sometimes forgot my battery on the charger. Over all this trimmer is worth the money. I have several milwalkee tools so huge amount of batteries. ... show more

  • work horse
Good worker for a battery cutter. I would like the whole thing to be a bit shorter, it is really long. This wacker works well, battery doesn't slowly diminish. It works and then it stops when it needs charged. Takes only about an hour to charge. REALLY wish the whole body could be adjusted a bit shorter. I would suggest the strap if you have any trouble with elbow or shoulder. This is a bit heavy ... show more

  • Very pleased
My yard isn’t large but I had some very thick and tall grass to trim. Worked great.

  • Worst Milwaukee product
I have a dozen Milwaukee tools and absolutely love them. This trimmer however is the worst trimmer I’ve ever owned. The problem is that after just 10 minutes of use the motor is overheating and cuts off. After as few minutes it will run again but within a few minutes cuts off again. I’ve discovered in forums that this is a widespread problem with this trimmer. To make matters worse the third party vendor David Tools charges a 50% restocking fee if you return it used, which of course you have to do to discover it it defective. And Milwaukee will only offer that you take or ship the trimmer to a certified Milwaukee repair shop. It has been nothing but a big pain in the ass. After 2 defective units I’m going back to a gas trimmer. It really sucks because Milwaukee hit it out of the park with their chainsaw but seem completely uninterested in fixing this widespread problem. ... show more
