I bought these buckets for the purpose of bokashi fermenting vegetable scraps, and soaking weeds to make fertilizer tea. So far, I highly recommend them and will probably buy another set soon. Pros: 1. The buckets look and feel sturdy and durable. 2. They are food grade, so they will leach fewer toxic chemicals into my compost. 3. The gamma lids twist on and off very easily and surprisingly quietly. This is a welcome change from the standard snap on lids and buckets I got from the local home construction warehouse. This is also advantageous for folks with arthritis or other issues involving their hands. 4. Nice, neutral, grown up color; at first, I was bummed that the buckets only came in grey. Now that I have them, I prefer their neutral color, especially since they are kept indoors. The only con I can identify is that you need to use a bit of strength to snap the gamma lid base onto the top of the bucket. This should only pose an issue for a small subset of people.     • Nice Replacement
Squirrels were opening the lids on the Home Depot buckets we keep bird seed and peanuts in. The buckets are sturdy and the lids fit nicely although it did take a little force to get them on. I suggest unscrewing the lid from the locking ring before putting the locking ring on as you may have trouble getting the lid off after securing it to the bucket. I'll have to see how they weather over time, but so far I am pleased with this purchase, even though they are a bit expensive for a bucket:-) ... show more

    • Very durable, difficult to open
I highly recommend on durability but they are difficult to twist open (you definitely need to use both hands). I'm using them to store ice melt, so it's a seasonal product. I'd be hesitant to use for a product being used daily. I have found if you use your fingers to hold the lid while twisting/lifting up, it does seem to open a little easier. ... show more

    • Tough exterior, seals well
I use one of these buckets for dog food, the other for flour. They are very sturdy, and the seal is exactly what I needed. I’ve tried different types of buckets for dog food, and this is by far the best. It keeps both my dogs and anything else out of the food, and keeps the food fresh for them.

I know the question on everyone's mind. What if I wanted to stop living like a heathen and store my charcoal in a more civilized manner? These buckets would provide a pretty solid answer. One bucket was a perfect fit for a 16 lb. bag of Kingsford briquettes. Two buckets were an almost perfect fit for a 20 lb. bag of Kamado Joe big block lump charcoal. Maybe could have fit a little more in there, but not much. The one warning I will give anyone is that you need to eat your Wheaties before you try to attach the seal ring to the top of each bucket. These things are water tight and pressing the rings on is no joke. Once the ring is on, the screw-in part of the lid is nice and easy. Should keep my charcoal free of any moisture, bugs, or anything else for the foreseeable future. ... show more

I wanted a bucket to keep bird seed in, because trying to scoop seed out of the bag is a mess. Ordered these without realling thinking about it. It turns out they are much more sturdy than at first glance, and I never expected them to create a twist-on airtight seal. Outstanding!

    • Good for keeping feed dry…
These buckets with the lids are pretty good at keeping the dry, but you have to be very careful to tighten it extremely tight and tip the bucket over after rainfall before trying to open it. Rainwater just sits right on top of it and it’s not really super tight. It does leak inside.. I wish I could’ve found some in much bigger sizes. ... show more
