I lost all of my equipment in a house fire. When it was time to replace my pinpointer I decided not to get another orange $20 special. Looking here on Amazon, i scaned the ratings and reviews and chose the Hazlewolke Pinpointer. It wasn't $20 but it had features that put it out in front of others that were more expensive like Garrett and Minelab pinpointers. My pros: Waterproof to 10' and that should be sufficient for creek beds or sandy beaches where a splash or two won't damage it. Rechargeable with the included USB C cable in a USB chargeing port. It has the feel of quality and substance at 11 oz. It has a built in LED light with 5 brightness levels. I don't detect at night but in an overly shady area it should help with seeing down in a hole. The LCD display is not huge but it is easy to read the 3 user controlled settings and charge level. Others have mentioned the two buttons used for On/Off and Mode changing are a little stiff and I concur that they are but not to the level that they are bothersome. It also comes equipped with a lanyard, pouch and a rubber shaft mount for easy storage. It can't be stored in there when it's turned on. It senses the metal shaft. My first time turning it on was startling because it sensed my wedding ring immediately and gave me a strong and surpriseing vibration responce. The sound is also strong and noticeable. I haven't put it to a daylong test yet but the short outings have made it a pleasure to use. The modes and sensitivity are adjustable but I haven't had any ground interference to warrant me taking it off the Max setting. My only con if it is a con, is stiffness of the buttons which should soften after some good detecting outings. Overall , I give it a 5 star rating because I can't give it a 4.5 star. The price is acceptable because of the flexibility of controlling all aspects of detection to pinpoint the treasures I seek. I think you will find it a great value for the extra money.

I found it to be better than expected! This is a lifesaver! I know most people buy this to go out into the world and explore! I actually purchased it because I lost a golden ring that was a little big on my finger that I love, and I couldn’t find it. I backtracked my steps 100 times, and nothing. However, this wand was affordable enough to try, and it did work. I found the ring, as well as a gold earring that was not mine. Lol! I absolutely recommend this detector!

The metal detector Works great. It is simple and easy to use. Large iron can be found at 10"-12". I used my wife's wedding ring and the detection distance goes down to 3"-4". The ground balance feature is really easy to use and really effective. The only issue I have is that the light won't work. Other than that, it's Awesome!!

Kids love playing with this thing, they use there bigger wand to scan large areas and this to pinpoint exactly where the item is in the dirt/sand. Keeps them entertained for hours. Durable and accurate, will likely be purchasing another as now our toddler wants one too to play along with the big kids! lol.

Used it a couple of times in the first month. I went to use it again after leaving it laying around in my house for 5 months and it was dead. Wouldn't charge. Tested multiple chargers/cables. No signs of life. When it worked, it was a 3 star product at best. It's sturdy but frustrating to use with the tiny screen and VERY hard to press buttons (holding them is damned frustrating.

The product is sturdy. It has pretty good range so if you’re wearing anything that has metal it will detect it. It appears that it detects cheap metals better than precious metals. The pointer we purchased only recognizes gold when it’s touching the gold. Sometimes the device vibrates when you’re not using for its intended purpose. We haven’t used it in water yet as it is winter and the river is way too cold for wading. Once spring comes we’ll have a better idea as to how well it finds metals of value and if the purchase was worth it.
